My daughter Sarah is 34 weeks pregnant with our first grandson. She will be entering the hospital tomorrow due to pre-eclampsia. Her doctors are hoping she can complete at least two more weeks before the little guy is delivered. Her blood pressure is elevated (but better after being on home bedrest for the past week); her platelet count is down to 74; and her urine protein count is up to 288 (300 is the danger line).
Prayers and positive thoughts are greatly appreciated. Thank you all.

Re: Prayer Request!
Prayers coming from Jersey for your daughter and her baby!
My first daughter was born at 35 weeks and is/was fine (she did spend a couple days in the NICU, but with no major issues). She was small of course, but otherwise in very good shape. She is now 16 and isn't even smaller than the other kids anymore. I did not have pre-eclampsia, she just came early, however my best friend had a daughter under similar circumstances (pre-eclampsia) and she stayed longer in the NICU than my daughter did, but once out she was a normal healthy baby (and is now a normal healthy 22 year old!). I am sure in 22 years that neonatal care has progressed substantially also! At 34 weeks or more the developmental delays aren't so noticable, if present at all, and he will catch up quickly!!
Just make sure the hospital has a good NICU, as a baby will do better without having to be transferred.
I will keep praying, keep us posted!

Re: Prayer Request!
Diane you know you have prayers coming in strong and clear from this 1st time Grandfather to be in Houston. Our daughter is at 27 weeks. Sarah and your grandson to be are where they need to be, especially with the technology available today. Saying a prayer right now sitting at the keyboard for a continued viable pregnancy and a safe delivery.
BTW, I was 6 weeks early back in the stone ages and now I am bigger and better than ever.

Thank you so very much, S2K family.
I've been at the hospital all day with Sarah today. Her spirits are good, as was yesterday's fetal stress monitoring data. Results of today's monitoring plus platelet and protein tests from yesterday should be available tomorrow.
I'll be staying overnight at her home so I can do chores, run errands, wash baby clothes, and play with granddog Tally tomorrow morning before going back to the hospital.
Please continue to keep Sarah, David, and their little guy in your prayers!
