Colorado snow photos from the mountains

#1 Postby Scott Patterson » Mon Dec 08, 2008 10:36 pm

Last weekend a friend and I climbed Missouri Mountain-elevation 14,073 feet in Colorado. I thought you might all like some snow and cold weather photos. It's pretty chilly at that elevation in December.

Chilly, but not too cold for that elevation at that time of year. At the summit it was windy and 10F with a -15F windchill. It can be a lot worse this time of year.

I made my first vacation to the Rockies this year. I'd been through Denver before, but never for any extended time. First week of August and the temp was in the 30s on Pike's Peak. Wish I could see it now.

My first time out to Colorado was to Colorado Springs to see my Dad. I went out there in September and we headed right for Pike's Peak. Talk about mountain sickness! Anyway, there was thunder snow on the summit. :ggreen:

The pictures all look like post cards. The mountains don't look real in the pictures and are surreal in person. Absolutely beautiful!
