Earliest snow in history...Northern suburbs received 8 inches and in the city we've received about two to three inches. Will there still be some some left on the ground in the morning...being that it is nighttime and the temps are in the 30s right now, a slow melting would take place (if it didn't melt during the day in most spots in New Orleans).

Not too often that New Orleans is in a positon to possibly have a 'snowpack' for more than a day!

It all melted except for the snowmen built in the city. On the Northshore where they had 5 to 7 inches, there is still snow and it is expected to freeze over tonight. Washington Parish (Bogalusa & Franklinton area) has cancelled school for tomorrow, so there is still plenty of snow up there.

Since the snow decided to fizzle just after it crossed into the Mississippi Coast, I decided to take a road trip to the snow. My little Sister lives just north of Hammond La. Today she received about 7 1/2 inch of heavy wet snow. I arrived shortly after the snow had quit. I have never seen so much snow in Louisiana in my life. We made a snowman, had a snowball fight and just took in natures beauty. The only down side was her power went out around 9am this morning. On the drive over I did notice plenty of down tree limbs. Certainly a day to remember in south Louisiana.......MGC
