Being the eternal skeptic of snow in the deep south, despite playing in snow Thursday, I highly doubt this rare event occures again next weekend. Consider the odds of two snow events removed by 10 days along the Gulf coast.....MGC

Yeah, don't think my enthusiasm for it clouds my realistic views. I have no memory of playing in more snow than I played in this past Wednesday/Thursday. If I ever have, I was so little that I don't remember it. (I've played in several inches of snow... not sure exactly how many a few times while visiting grandparents in Brownwood, near Abilene)
So I realize that the chances of ever getting 4 or so inches again, or anytime soon, certainly aren't high. It's fun to wish for, though.
And it worked this past week!

Has anyone heard/seen anymore of the models that led to the above mentioned winter weather possibilities for the upcoming weekend???

I'll believe it when I see it. I sure hope it snows here(since it didn't Thursday
), but that setup doesn't look impressive, frontal which never really produces snow other than maybe some flurries(cold air arrives after the moisture is gone etc.). I don't see much hope for a pattern change til after Christmas.

Believe it's possible at least. This past year after going all winter without any wintry precipitation at all we had a solid half-foot of snow on March 3rd followed by a brief warm-up that melted it all except in the shaded areas....and then another half-foot+ on March 7th!

Granted, I know that wintry weather is rarer on the Gulf Coast than it is in Texomaland, but when you've got a favorable weather pattern.....

Well the 0z GFS sure looks VERY cold Sunday/Monday, but most of the moisture is gone before it gets here(of course), so I don't see a real winter weather threat, then it's dry(the downside to arctic air) and moderates a bit for Christmas.

Brent, are any of the models showing any sort of low pressure developing in the western gulf? That is what was hinting at a couple of days ago.

This looks somewhat interesting and note the date...

But I'm not getting my hopes up after last week's disaster. It continues to look like only brief cold shots will happen, with quick recoveries and temperatures mostly above normal otherwise for the rest of the month.

The GFS has the cold air really digging quite far south behind the storm, but it is New England that looks like they might get a blizzard. The low that the GFS develops off the east coast has very tight pressure isobars by the time it gets north of Cape Cod. What forum do all the New England blizzard bugs hang out in?

YAY for waking up early because you're burning up. This is RIDICULOUS.
Looks like a brief cold snap is still coming Sunday/Monday, before a warmup and rain for Christmas Eve.

Well, you've got almost a week to fix that forecast. I clearly requested more snow for Christmas.

Btw, you know the "news" can't be too good when NOBODY has posted in 2 Texas threads (except one post in the N TX thread) or EWG's thread all day!

Yeah, I've had my AC on since yesterday. 74 now with a low tonight of 61.
