madison's snowfall record for the month of december fell with today's 2.9". 36.1" has fallen in december '08, beating the old record of 35.0" from 2000. this is more than 2 feet above normal, and we're already closing in on our normal seasonal snowfall. we need another inch to break the record for snowiest month ever.
to top it all off, 2008 is now, by far, the snowiest calendar year on record here, too.

we've seen 106.8" this year, blasting away the old record from 1994 by nearly 2 feet, and there's a bit more to come in the next week.
keep in mind last winter (07-08) was our snowiest on record.
i'm about ready for it to end, but there's more tomorrow night, and probably again saturday. looks like we'll get back into a clipper pattern late next week. BAH! i'm about ready to move to miami.
