Actually we do have some nice winter weather in The Netherlands. No 'Siberian blast', but enough frost at nights to get outdoor skating conditions.

Yeah actually been a very cold start to Jan here indeed, 2nd coldest in 30 years which is actually very impressive given how mild the last few Jan's have been.

I heard that it got down to 20˚F (-6.6˚C) in London, their coldest reading since 1987.

Quite possibly did get that cold, I remember seeing it show -5C around 1am at London airport one night so thats quite probable.

Quite a few places have seen an ice day (max temps stay below 0C) as well which have becoming increasingly rare now days here. Lowest min seems to have been -12C, pretty impressive given the lack of snow that has been with this cold spell.

That's how weather is (not climate). We do have nice wintry conditions in The Netherlands, but at the same time there are above normal temperatures on Greenland, Iceland, Norway, Siberia.

I do so hope we can get back to the "Little Ice Age" conditions of Dicken's youth, that inspired him to write a Christmas novel with snow in London.
