Yea, temps seem to have steadied or risen here too. Hovering around freezing.

Looks likewise for major hubs of SE FL -- I'm noticing a trend. Ft. Lauderdale has risen a degree to 46F and Pompano Beach airpark has risen two degrees to 45F. PBI holding steady at 41F.

Interesting trends indeed. Note the ECMWF was showing a somewhat more "shallow" Arctic High that would drift off a bit quicker to the E into the Atlantic allowing for a possible slight NNE or NE wind to develop across SE FL just prior to sunrise stopping the temps from dropping to freezing. Indeed it seems this artic high is showing signs of breaking down and being modified with pockets or rising temps now noted across FL, albeit still VERY cold for Florida's standards nonetheless.

We saw an initial nose-dive of temps after sun-down but as we have seen before with freezes across Southern Florida, it takes just the right conditions to keep those temps plunging past midnight. We have nearly ideal conditions tonight but the question becomes, is there enough "juice" left in this Artic High or is it finally weakening a bit?

One other comment above -- I see the major hubs across SE FL now reporting a due North wind around 6-8mph, up some from earlier this evening -- that could account for the leveling or slight rise in temps I am seeing.

I took the dog out for walk at 8pm to an open area adjacent to my condo complex and there was frost already forming at 8pm. i just went out there again and jack frost is painting quite the portrait. my condo complex has a heavy tree canopy and that is keeping our temps up. in fact my car top just has dew on it at this point. my temp here is 37 and has been steady over the past couple of hours. overall i think we're doing pretty good and i am encouraged by the leveling off of temps.

Crist has issued a State of Emergency in terms of the cold weather and its effects on Citrus. This state will remain until the 28th, and was issued for the last blast we had on the 14th.

Brooksville now at 23 so the central Florida icebox is earning its title.

Temperature as of 5:40 AM EST is 39*F. It has RISEN since last night, when it
bottomed out near 35*F just past midnight...Thus the influence of a light breeze along the bay...

Wednesday: 35/46
Thursday: Low of 35*F so far

While it is 39*F near Tampa Bay, it is as cold as 26*F in interior pinellas, away from the bay (are these
stations accurate???)

Local weather station about a block away reporting 27, but the sprinkler did not make icicles. :(
News channels are reporting 33, I think its more like the 33 not the 27. It was
colder yesterday here. Hmmmm.......
I wanted icicles. :grr:

My low dipped to 37.9°F at 7:20 this morning. Well we had our 2 days of winter now its over and we can go back to a zonal flow and the continous drought conditions that we have endored so far this winter season.

Orlando (MCO) didn't get quite as cold as forecast. They were expected to hit 24F, but only managed to reach 29F. Still a very cold reading for Orlando though.

LOL, I know I don't like the cold but my kids love to play with the ice.
Lots of frost, and the kids found enough ice to play around with, mostly
ice off of big leaves, they pull them off whole and looks like a huge ice
leaf, but nothing compared to last years hard freeze.

Which is strange since MCO actually was colder this time. Last year they only had a low of 31F whereas this year they hit 29F. I think the difference this time was probably the fact that there was a lot of fluctuation. The temperature seemed to bounce around between 33F and 29F for several hours, and did not remain constantly below freezing. Those brief jogs above 32F were probably enough to ruin icicle growth.
