So is this a 5 year event, 10 year event??? I say this because the -26F i had last week in Wisconsin was last reached 10 years prior...

Not sure what Key Largo was at, but i didn't see any frost on the hot little Mustang rental i have (its actually a crappy car, i'd rather have a focus). Heading back up to Fort Lauderdale this afternoon for a few more nights. Can't get enough of I95 :)

Official low temps last night across se fl:

West Palm Beach 35
Fort Lauerdale 41
Miami 43

All in all, temps didn't get quite as cold across most of Miami-Dade and Broward as originally forecast (37-41 was forecast across immediate coastal locations).

The freeze this morning made chunks of my grass look brown and dead
It did some damage to the yard- mainly to the grass.

Not sure where that came from. But NWS JAX has an official 21F, not 26F.

Sorry, I should have added the link from where the values originated. Link: http://www.weather.gov/climate/getclimate.php?wfo=mfl

If the low temperature was recorded after 7:02 AM, then it was not included.

MOST OF HENDRY COUNTY INTO INTERIOR SECTIONS OF COLLIER COUNTY.
WESTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY IN THE BELLE GLADE AREA ALSO SAW LOWS IN
THE MID TO UPPER 20S.

FARTHER SOUTH, TEMPERATURES ALSO MANAGED TO REACH THE FREEZING MARK.
LOWS BETWEEN 30 AND 32 WERE REGISTERED AS FAR SOUTH AS TAMIAMI TRAIL
IN COLLIER COUNTY, AND IN THE FAR WESTERN SUBURBS OF PALM BEACH,
BROWARD AND MIAMI-DADE COUNTIES.

HERE ARE SOME SELECT LOW TEMPERATURES FROM INTERIOR SOUTH FLORIDA

Stratocumulus clouds approaching se fl coast as winds begin to turn to the ne and dewpts rise into the 40's....indications of a milder night ahead for miami and fort lauderdale proper with forecast lows of 48 in each city....won't have to go too far north and west to see one more night with colder temps as evidenced by freeze advisories for western palm beach county and interior collier county (everglades mainly). No frost or freeze advisories for any part of Miami-Dade and Broward as of now though.

Interesting stat...from 9am to 3pm today....span of 6 hours...the dewpoint in fort lauderdale (airport) has gone from 24 deg to 43 deg.

Driving in Downtown Saint Petersburg, it was 50*F at Albert Whitted Airport.
As soon as I drive about 3 miles north of there, into my neighborhood, the
air gets much colder on nights like tonight with no wind.
In my neighborhood and I am very close to the Bay (within 100 feet)...
it plummets to a current Frigid reading of 37*F as of 9:35 PM....
I decided to investigate...
Downtown must be a heat island...that whole airport is surrounded by concrete
and flanks the waters of the bay.....

Note: If there were an east or northeast wind blowing tonight, the temperature would
be about 50*F...I have observed that the temperature on windy nights with the wind
blowing off the bay is equal at my house to that of downtown Saint Petersburg. Tonight
there is no wind...radiational cooling has a wild cold effect!

Im suspicious of your observation of 37. That would be 2 degrees lower than the lowest station in the area, and a full 5 degrees from the average in the area.

I gave that thermostat a shake....and left it alone for a few minutes...
read about 39*F...still gives a lower reading than surrounding areas... :?:
It feels like the low 40s personally...thermometer is always going crazy...I'm going to
have to "expire" it if this keeps up...

Anyway...the official reading is 42*F at St. Petersburg/Clearwater Airport...

Its not everyday that Orlando manages to see three freezes in a row, but that is just what happened with this cold snap. The last three nights at MCO looked like this: 32F - 29F - 31F
