Yeah, I was surprised when I *tried* to take the dog out ... I went out, saw the snow turned around and realized she never left the house.... my friend in P'ville says sleet there (my sister in Lewisville says sleet too) but this is either snow or frozen mist.... it's just floating down. Is there such a thing as frozen mist? It's floating like snow tho..

It's changing over to something else. Still precip, but tiny somethings. Not sticking or anything but coming down heavier.

Maybe tiny frozen rain mixed with snow?

Would have been back earlier but now the pup wanted to go out .... and walked thru the mud .... eep.

Tried taking pics but I don't think it showed up.

Well it's ending here as sleet, it's coming down kind of hard, i just went outside the car is frozen solid, it would take a lot of scrapping to get the ice off. I almost slipped and it's freaking cold!!!!!!!!!!!

I just went outside again to see what's going on.. and it's raining, freezing on impact on the cars and light poles. The street and sidewalk are just wet at this point.

Anything metal is ice covered. I couldn't tell if the tree were getting iced yet tho but I'm sure they will.

Times like these I'm glad we have underground utilities.

Well, no snowburst for me. It seems like the area of white on the wfaa.com "winter radar" turned out to be virga, because all precipitation ended here when the sleet line passed. However that system was remarkably accurate with the changeover from rain to freezing rain, and from freezing rain to sleet, as well as the back edge of the sleet.

We've actually been dry since about 11 or 11:15.

Too bad I can't take pictures...the sleet layer isn't especially thick, but it does give everything a nice wintry white tone that I like.

I couldn't test the road conditions if I wanted to, as I won't be able to open my car until it gets above freezing tomorrow afternoon.

Watching the news this morning...wow all the highways basically are just covered with a sheet ice, looks pretty from a far view from home.

Good for you Shoshana! Glad you had a moment of some white stuff. I didn't see anything but rain here in SW Austin.

This morning we have ice on exposed objects outside and a little ice on the asphalt surfaces but as I suspected, not much of an event. It was simply a bit too warm here in AUS to have a substantial effect. Oh well, at least it rained and God knows we need that!!

well im off of school, with about .25-.3 inches of sleet/ice on the roads. Not much, but just enough for a day of freedom

That's the basics of it!!! After a promising start here at the house we ended up with less than 0.1" of rain before it was all done. Only a few minor damp spots to show for it and the ground is still bone dry.

How much ice would it take to be more than "not much"? 0.25-0.30 is plenty enough to cause problems. Do you want tree limbs cracking and power lines falling?

Check out local storm reports from Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. They got that! An inch of ice accretion and lots of exploding transformers.

Lucy pulled the football on the rain chances. <sigh> I'm glad I listened to my gut and watered yesterday. Pulled another copperhead out of the pool skimmer too. The raccoons are tearing up the yard every time I water, and the people who have automatic sprinkler systems look like they've been hit with meteorites. I've never seen it so dry in winter.

Well, it's cold and sunny now. Ice is starting to melt off roofs and cars, street seems fine.

No armadillos. We thought the same thing and put out the live traps. We've caught many armadillos over the years, but this time it's all coons and the occasional possum. The damage is a bit different than you see with armadillos as well. As long as they're not a lactating female, the critters get relocated to Bear Creek Park near Langham creek.
