S2K outage
Sorry for the outage folks. We're still looking into what happened and I'll update everyone as soon as we know more. We had to have our hosting service reboot the server this morning and everything appears to be working normally.

Re: S2K outage
It does look as if everyone will have to log back in, but folks will have figured that out.

That was scary. Then I was asked for my password, and I always worry I'll remember the wrong one.

I didn't have to log back in for some reason. Anyway, if you don't remember your password, post in the Tests, Help, & Suggestions forum and we can reset your password for you. We'll need an email address so we can send you the new password. You will be able to change it to whatever you want after you log back in.

Re: S2K outage
Around 3:35 PM EST,there was another outage as when I tried to get in at that time,it directed me to the home page but the forum link was not available. After that I got in without logging or using the password. But I notice that surfing the forums is slower than normal.
Update=At 3:57 PM EST It redirects to the home page, then you click at forums and it gets you there.

OK this may have been self-induced.
We've been bombarded with spammers trying to register so I added a lot of European IP address ranges to our ban list. The down side of this apparently was to create a huge overhead on the board checking for prohibited addresses. I'll take th eheat for this oops. I've reverted the ban list so hopefully the performance issues should be fixed. Sorry about that folks....

Proxy servers, probably spambots or a disgruntled ex-member with nothing better to do than try to spam Storm2k and make up stories about fire breathing rats.

As you can see, it's not easy to keep something available to earnest users, yet protect against all the sick criminals out there making millions off cybercrime! For whatever reason caused the downtime, know that you were missed yesterday! Welcome back!!
