Denver and Pueblo Forecast offices need to get on the same page...Denver is calling for 40% chance rain/snow with no accums mentioned for southern Douglas, while Pueblo has a winter storm watch for up to 10 for northern El paso...10 inch difference in forecast across 1 county line....

Todays event is shaping up to be a non-event, just a little cloudy. Tuesday's event is also starting to look pretty grim as well. Thursday nothing to get excited about either as that system is looking less impressive with each model run as well. Basically we appear to just be stuck in this period dry doldrums. February isnt supposed to be the snowiest month by any stretch(I think its like the driest of the winter months). So I will try not to let it get me down. There's always March.

Yep, what looked to be promising is now disappointing. It seams everytime there is a mentioning of a closed low one day, it is followed by a backing off to an open wave the next.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if the forecasters take into consideration these continual disappointmens, only to be completely taken surprise by one of these systems.

There was mention in this mornings discussion that the GFS has the Thurs night/Friday storm on a more northerly track, which bodes well for us..

At the least, the mountains need more snow!

Picked up a nice 1/2" here in Erie... Snowed lightly from 5pm to around 11pm...

Hoping tomorrow night is better!

Once again, another flop this past week... This winter is over here. Bring on the spring... (but keep the mountain snow faucet on)!

Wow. Went from a 10% chance of snow to 70% tonight in one adjustment. Still only expecting about an inch and a half, but that beats the 10% chance we had earlier.

Alright, I'm officially nominating this the most boring winter ever. I know March is our snowiest month, and April is our 3rd most snowiest - so I'm ready for a quick turnaround. Nothing on the horizon for the end of Feb, so let's get this party started in March.

well...I watered the hedges and trees and what little grass I have left today. This is rediculous. The ground is like July dry but its February. I am surprised that the weather office hasnt put out a statement on the dryness so I have no idea numbers wise exactly how low we are. Between last years dryness and the current 2 month dry spell we have got to be pretty far down. Not to mention fires are burning in Arvada right now as I type. I dont think we have had an above average precip month since October and even that was only a little above average. We need snow/rain and we need it bad. This drought business has GOT to end :)

On the plus side, in Colorado, it is really only the Eastern Plains that are so far below norma. Most of the mountain regions have slightly above normal snowpack. Check out the stats:

AND might I add that some places around Memphis TN have seen a larger single storm snowfall total that Denver has seen all winter from any single storm. I think most snow we got was the with the mid-December frigid cold front when we got 5 ish...some places just north of Memphis are approaching a foot. This winter SUCKED

I visited Denver and Steamboat Colorado in February of 2001...It was
the coldest weather I have ever felt in my life, it was 7 below *F and
a wind chill of 30 below zero *F I could feel my soul being sucked
out of me...There was 6 foot piles of snow on all the sides
of the roads in Northwest Colorado and at least 3-4 feet
piled up in Denver...That was awesome...Ice actually freezing
on the Inside Glass of the cars...

It does look good 7 days out for some cold and maybe some snow. I have to admit, the warmth feels nice, but we'll have months and months of warm and sunny weather very soon. Now is the time to get some much needed moisture. These western ridges really do get stuck and don't budge for days and days. The forecast last week only had Monday in the 70s, now it's pretty much all this week until Friday. There is a tendency for warmth here rather than cold. :cold:

Yeah, At least climatologically speaking we should still have some good cold spells and snow coming in March. Sustained 70s is really an late march and April kind of thing. Either way it its hella dry. I was almost tempted to do some planting this coming weekend but looking at the long range, I thinking of waiting until late march. I mostly need to reseed the yard and plant some perrenials and ground cover. I also plan to plant a few fairly mature trees, which I could probably do now without much trouble. I think most trees struggle more with our late april and may dryness and heat than they do with cool weather and even snow. Of course I doubt the trees I plant will have even leafed out yet...although my pear trees have buds, and I am seeing some tulips start to come to life. I am holding out hope for March snow. I have yet to see a significant march storm since moving to Denver, although the locals talk them up like crazy.
