On Kanin was after the last snowfall (6.-8.2.) Recorded a record amount of snow throughout the ski resort Kanin operating history (since 1974). In the central part of the ski (okrepčevalnica Prestreljenik, 2202 m) is the thickness of snow cover reached 880 cm(28feet). In the higher parts of the ski slopes and in exposed locations, the snow more. From November until now is due to the Kanin together for more than 1100cm(35 feet) of snow

How often does something like this occur in this area?
It seems to me that much of Southern Europe has been experiencing a much colder than normal Winter, thus much more Winter precipitation than normal. Is this correct?
If this is correct, what has been suggeste or pinpointed as the cause of this apparent difference from "normal" winters in this region?
And its not even so high mountine of 1400m above sea level.
