jin, that is one gorgeous picture! I remember I was smoking turkeys outside that Christmas Eve day when the snow started, and had Christmas goodies cooking inside. What a wonderful day. :D

Posilutely cooler behind the Arctic front.

Down to 60ºF at DW Hooks already, and NAM predicts a morning low of 35ºF!

Yep - it's purty chilly today! Nice in the sun and out of the wind, but otherwise, I'm content in the house. Not exactly "winter" weather, but we always get a good shot of cold when the rodeo riders hit the trail into Houston.

WE managed 32.6ºf here at the house this am. Last gasp before real spring sets in?

Would you Texan's warm up soon please? I'm getting tired of waking up each morning to ice & snow..I mean it's getting a little old. When you warm up then we do a couple weeks later. Thanks in advance...

Fortunately, I'm not in West Texas then. :P Only highs in the low to upper 60's here in Southeast Texas, with lows in the lower 30's the past few nights and likely again tonight. It should be quite a while before we see 90's.

Texas is huge. I could be in Florida hours before I could get to El Paso, Tx.

That would fall right before Spring Break for most Texas schools. When I was a young one, seems like we had a couple of Spring Breaks where we had some cold, damp days.

If it happens, Good!

Personally, I'm done with the cold weather and can't wait for summer. But that's just me.

If we don't have another freeze this winter, which is looking probable, this will be one of the earliest 'last freeze' dates for Houston (Jan. 29th).

I've done my spring planting already so I don't want any late season freezes. But one more cool down with some moisture would be nice before we head into what looks like a hot and very dry spring and summer.

I woke up early this morning to check on my tomato plants and guess what lands on my arm?

A fricken mosquito.

In May, it acceptable.

In February, it's not!

Thank you old man winter for screwing us again.

I live over by Saratoga and Rodd Field and the marsh keeps them around my house year round :x

Good luck with the tomatos.

I live in Calallen near the Nueces River basin marshes that are dry as a bone right now thanks to ZERO rain since September. I've lived at my current house for four years now and haven't had mosquito land on me this early.

New 12 NAM shows Saturday morning lows dropping below 50ºF in Houston, showing that Winter may be down, but not out!

Ed, my folks are on their way to Odessa/Midland for a funeral tomorrow, do you think or does anyone else tink that the frozen precipitation forecasted will be on the ground by say 5pm Thursday?

Thanks

Temp just popped up to 33ºF after .16 inches of freezing rain fell yesterday afternoon and evening, things should start melting soon, I'd guess.

Official forecast predicts more freezing rain later tonight.
