Come on, if your on this board you love weather and the start of the hurricane season. When Frances, Jeanne, and Wilma created havoc in my area during 2004-05, I was apprehensive about the 2006 hurricane season, but I still looked forward to the start.

It cuts both ways.On one hand,I am always excited to track the systems but on the other hand,I dont want to see loss of life and extensive destruction to any area.

Excited because the start of the season is a time of celebration. Once the season starts, I get to come on here and dissect the storm with you guys for 6 months. I guess I would be sad, because the anticipation of the start of the season goes away, and it is fun to count down the days till the upcoming season.

Still rebuilding from Rita and Ike. As much as I hate the destruction I do value this board and the knowledge base that has kept my family and I out of harms way far before the media.

It works both ways for me. I love tracking hurricanes just keep them away from land.

I don't understand why you are excited. Living in my house with 2 kids and seeing my front yard starting to flood and having big trees in my backyard during Gustav, it was SCARY!!!

I am excited by tropical weather but really have experienced quite enough to last me several lifetimes. Sad combination I guess. Most of my "excitement" comes from the challenge of predicting the TC's. Ike more than made up for any little shred of excitement I might have had(I don't think I did since I have been through quite a few TC's and know what they do) about being in a hurricane.

I agree vbhoutex. For me, the tracking and determining factors concerning strength, overall size and potential impact on any given area keeps my interest going from year to year. Personally, I've experienced enough to last me the rest of my life. But will continue to share my knowledge and experiences with others, hopefully from a distance.

One thing I have learned no matter how many times you have experienced a hurricane you always learn new things each time yo go through a storm. Just when you though you have seen it all it never gets old. Can you imagine what it would be like if we were not in hurricane shape, and did not have to run from a storm in a three to four year time frame when the next Katrina is coming total panic. It's like you have to keep you're self up to date for the next monster.

You'd be lying if you said you didn't look forward to hurricane season or else you wouldn't be here. I love tracking/discussing storms and even enjoy experiencing them, just as long as it's not really bad.

If someone is posting a tropical weather board (which doesn't make anyone a 'bad' person who somehow revels in the misery storms cause to others), they are obviously interested in the weather phenomenon itself. Science and mother nature are fascinating and amazing. Knowledge is power and with that we can not only better prepare ourselves and our homes for a storm, but share that with those we are close to. Storms are going to form and hit whether or not we post about them, the least we can do, however, is not to be 'surprised' by anything (as much as is possible of course....mother nature loves to surprise).
So to answer the quesion, yes, i am always excited to see what nature is going to do and how what we have learned can be used to understand what is happening. But it is always with some apprehension as well....we can't control what nature does, but at least on boards such as this, we can learn about nature. Such is the 'burden' of being alive in a broad sense, things are going to happen to us be they natural disasters, terrorism, disease, etc....and it is always sad and with a heavy heart that everyone approaches the subject matter here when there is a human toll.
