That's been known. The book's been out for years and shouldn't come as a surprise. In fact i think there's an old thread on it if this ol' brain of mine is remembering correctly.

Oh. I haven't read the book or seen the movie... The movie looks really funny and I'll probably see it anyway. I knew Edward Norton and Brad Pitt were the same character before seeing Fight Club and it still became one my favorite movies of all time. :grrr:

The book is a must read. It's one of those books you can't put down. You'll laugh, you'll cry. Make sure you have plenty of kleenex nearby!

I don't cry that easily! :P

Big Fish is the only one in recent memory I can think of that actually made me choke up.

So sorry about not adding a spoiler. It just didn't occur to me because the book came out over 2 years ago and became such a hit. Everyone was talking about it in literature circles (2006). People were picking up the book just because of the dog on the cover (2006), now they've re-issued the book with Jennifer Aniston on the cover too. Anyway, even before I was half way thru the book, someone said to me the ending was so sad. So I was braced. What I'm trying to say is no one seemed to keep the ending a secret, from the get - go. And this is going back to 2006!

Similar to the last Harry Potter book. If you wanted to not know how that book ended, you would have had to unplug the phone, TV, cell phone and just read it. LOL!

Not many secrets survive with popular books!

Def The Notebook. Legends of The Fall. Flight 93 - the A&E version made me cry so hard I had a headache afterwards.

I just saw The Onion Field on the Blockbuster new release wall. Worth renting?

We're in the rent-movie phase again (more time for movie watching after the holidays). Lately we've rented 3 movies but our favorite so far has been Lars and the Real Girl.

My husband recommended a movie that is showing on hbo, Taking Chance, with Kevin Bacon who is escorting a fallen marine. He warned me I would cry and I've been crying almost the entire movie.

From the sundance film festival

Taking Chance is about respect, about death and sadness, about honor and the military fraternity, and about the American community during a time of tragedy.

Sounder --- Poor Dog
E.T.
Big Fish

And, some parts of "Fight Club." It is just so sad to see a person lose touch with reality.

The first time I saw "Being There" with Peter Sellers I nearly cried. I was young and thought that they were mocking Chauncy througout the whole movie. As an adult, I watched the movie. Very funny.

When I was a kid, I had an uncle who was so sentimental that he would cry when just talking about the movies he liked. I never understood why he did that.

The years have flown by. I have already lived longer than he did.

In thinking about it, one that struck a tender nerve with me about 25 years ago was Savannah Smiles. Recently Kathy and I we were watching the Secret Life of Bees, and I was reminded of that movie. We talked about it again.

Like my uncle, war movies (like Platoon) almost always take me back, choke me up, and make me sad.

And thankful.

First date movie I saw with my wife. I had read the book, so I knew the ending. I hated it that they called Hurricane Grace a Category 5 when it wasn't.

Hate things like that. Like the Preminger movie about Pearl Harbor with John Wayne and Patricia Neal, when the Navy destroyers sail out of the harbor a couple of days after DEcember 7th and they all had surface and air search radar.

My Dad sniffled at the end of 'Apollo 13'. One of the last movies we ever saw (the last being the kind of ugly crime drama/modern film noir 'Lucky Number Slevin').

I got a touch sniffly at 'A River Runs Through It', and a touch sniffly at 'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon', where the weirdest thing happened. A few minutes into the movie, I forgot I was reading the subtitles, and it was like I was hearing the subtitles.

My wife thought I was goofy when I tried to explain.

I love it when that happens with foreign movies.

Apollo 13 gets to me every time. Also, well done war movies. "Band of Brother" was amazing. I choke up every time I go visit a war memorial. Local ones don't get to me, but when I see ones on a trip I choke up. Especially the memorials to American soldiers in Foreign countries.
