Yep guys, it's been great. We've seen anywhere from 2 1/2 inches to about 5 inches in the general Austin metro area and nearby surroundings! We really needed this stuff and could use another 2-3 days of this.

Of course, it's projected to clear out and warm up this next week for South by Southwest music festival. Everyone comes down here, experiences the great mid March weather, and decides they want to move down to Austin! :x More cars, more traffic ... growl, growl, snarl, snarl ... geez I'm sounding like an old-timer now!

6:36 PM CST......this rain event your speaking about is now over us......zip 39059. We're already experiencing flooding. And from radar it looks like more coming .........

But ya know what....I cannot afford flood insurance and I cannot afford to move. So let the waters rise.

We got a total of 2.5" of rain at our house. It was enough to kickstart the grass (and weeds) growing and the yard now looks green. I've heard that the rain popped out some blueblonnets - I've only seen a few tho.

We're still in an Exceptional drought though.

No hail down here in SW Austin but we did see about .30 inches of rain in less than an hour and a lot of wind. Looks like you got the worst of it up north! Hey, I'll take the rain any day.

Yahoo!!!

We just had a fine minute down poor and very dark cloud go over us!!! First time I've seen one of them since August!

It's all gone. At least we won't have to water down the infield for my son's baseball game in a couple of hours. :D

Uhm, a winterstorm in OK and TX in the middle of March is quite uncommon, isn´t it ?

Actually it's not. They've been know to have winter storms in April in that part of Texas and Oklahoma. It's the way those storm systems come of the Colorado Rockies and they usually bring air that is cold enough with them to make it snow.

What's mean ???

South Texas is 500 miles away from the TX/OK border. 700+ miles from Amarillo TX. Plus, the cold front hadn't gotten there yet.

It was 84 here in Austin earlier, it's 48F now, heading for 38....

60% chance of rain for Easter Sunday!!!

That's the first time in months I've seen anything more than a 60% chance!
