How did you choose your Storm2K name?

#1 Postby JetMaxx » Mon Jul 28, 2003 10:06 pm

Some are obvious (a poster's real name, a poster's location, etc)...but I was just curious how you picked the name you post under at Storm2K?

In my case....I picked JetMaxx because of my passion and interest for tornadoes and supercell thunderstorms. Many times mid and upper level "jet maxes" are ingrediants in tornado formation.

JetStream and JetStreak were already taken at Wright-Weather...where I was posting at the time, so I chose "Jet Max" with a twist = JetMaxx...which I post under at all boards except TalkWeather Alabama, where I just use my real name Perry (as do most of the posters there).

What about you?

Carried around azskyman since my first week here in July, 1997. My love of weather, of course.

My member name had to be weather related with my ongoing interest in meteorology. There really wasn't anything else I could think of... I thought "ColdFront" would be the most appropriate pretty much right away with my interest in meteorology.

I have been "ColdFront24" (and maybe "ColdFront23" and "ColdFront25," don't vividly remember); but instead of 'having to' always change it... it made more sense to use the year I was born (1977), thus "ColdFront77."

Tom, I remember you being ColdFront25 for a short time, before you changed it to 77.

Anyway, OtherHD basically means "Other hurricanedude", because the hurricanedude here has been "hurricanedude" since the old Storm2k days. I took the name in August 2000 at TWC without knowing there was another one here. When I came here, I picked the name "The_other_HD" and eventually shortened it to "OtherHD".

Yes, HD... I remember distinctly being "ColdFront25." My reference of 'not vividly remembering" is in regards to "ColdFront23."

I am almost positive I was never "ColdFront23," but was "ColdFront24" on some boards.

Sorry about that.

Mine's pretty simple as you can see. I live on the Texas Gulf Coast so I'm a southern girl and gale being a strong wind...I just put them together and thought it sounded pretty cool.

I created mine sometime ago when I joined the GoPBI board. I *believe* it may have even been when Allison struck and I was searching desperately for hurricane sites and dialog and stumbled upon GoPBI's message board. I know for certain that it was a day when we were getting torrential rains and street flooding and my pants legs and shoes were saturated by the time I got to my office.

I felt like I'd just swam to work, like a duck, and I was in Galveston. Thus, the name. :)

Miss Mary

#11 Postby Miss Mary » Tue Jul 29, 2003 7:24 am

Well, for those that don't know, this was my TWC message board name. When I use to frequent chat there, I'd just use Mary. My daughter thought that was so boring - oh Mom, couldn't you come up with something more clever? I said - hey, Mary's fine - it is my name! And so over time TLC would call me Miss Mary. 2SeamFastball (formerly Toalba) would call me Hail Mary. When I joined TWC boards, just "Mary" was taken. So I decided on Miss Mary. Sorry toalie!!! And until the day my "access rights were terminated" I never met the other "Mary"!!!! So since many from there - the mass TWC exodus to Storm2K - knew me as Miss Mary, the name has stuck. I think I'll always be just Miss Mary from now on!

But I really do prefer if you all just call me - Mary!

Joshua - what's clever about your name is you'll never age!!! You'll always be 21. Don't change it - I like it!

Ticka is my nickname in real-life - older brother and sister couldn't say patricia - came out as ticka and its stuck for 40 years. All my family and friends call me this too. I only use Patricia at work.

Have a great day!

Mine also carries over from TWC. I became wx247 because of my love for weather that sometimes seems like that is all I talk about 24-7.

SEAZSky is my pseudoname for all of the
weather boards that I belong to.

SEAZSky means SouthEast AriZona Sky. It sounds Polish - and I do have Polish ancestry.......No slurs now, please!
