Talk about crazy weather - this morning we had severe thunderstorms rumble through, just in time for rush hour! YIPPEE!!!! I was getting ready for work and the first one rolled through - my poor dog Rudy cowered in the bathroom with me as it blew on through - hail and all. As I was leaving, I was trying to beat another one - didn't quite miss that. I think I met up with the one that came through my town on the way down to Atlantic City, more hail and almost couldn't see the road. Lastly, Atlantic City itself. I got to be one of the many lightning rods out there running two blocks from my parking garage, across the customer's self park lot, with thunder, lightning, wind and rain all over. I was soaked from my thighs down. I was hoping that this wasn't a sign of the rest of the day. We normally don't get storms like these until later in the afternoon.

The Cincinnati Reds had their opener today, which is a big deal here in Cincinnati, we have an annual opening day parade and the whole nine yards. It's almost like a holiday in our town. This year we have a brand new scoreboard with HD and a dollar menu. Yes, there are eight $1 items on this menu! Hot dogs being one of them....

I knew a guy wouldn't get the half a haircut thing.....we women like to be pampered. Believe you me, when the economy comes back and we don't have to scrimp and save anymore, I'm asking for wash/cut and blow-dry. Thank you very much!

This fine saturday i was a busy lil' bee. I pressure washed by driveway, sidewalks and curbs. Now my cement is nice & white & clean looking.

My husband and i went shopping yesterday. He got a new pair of sunglasses for golf and i got a pressure washer!

Went to the church this morning to take delivery on and arrange the 75 tulips we ordered for Easter Sunday. Came home and did some cleaning before our Granddaughter brought her Mom over. Mom amd Grammie went grocery shopping while I baby sat and then went to get my ears lowered. Most important part of the day was Granddaddy and Emily taking a nice nap in Granddaddy's recliner. Pizza has now been ordered.

I've done a little bit of everything. Had a house full, or yard full, of neighborhood kids all day, have a stubborn leak in the roof over the patio, so I caulked every possible spot and I hope I got it. Tomorrow should test that out. Lots of laundry, dishes, general cleaning, and have decided to join in the neighborhood garage sale that my new community does every year, so I've started filling up garage sale boxes. Yay... getting rid of crap & clutter! I started cleaning stuff out a little before we moved, but after moving here in November, I still have mountains of boxes in the garage to go through. Since I'm missing very few items and living just fine without whatever is in those boxes, I'm planning on getting rid of a lot of stuff. The garage sale is in 2 weeks, they put all the addresses of participants in the paper, and have arranged for Goodwill to come by afterward and pick up anything leftover, if you want them to. I definitely want them to. I have some big items that I'll be happy to donate if they don't go in the garage sale, as well as anything else that doesn't sale. Now I just need to convince myself not to hold onto those gazillion things "that I might need someday" and just get rid of stuff. I'm a neat freak trapped in a pack rat's body. Heeeelp!

We have a beautiful, picture postcard day here in Cincinnati. Sunny, highs in low 70s.

I plan on doing lots of yardwork and cutting the lawn. Right now I can hear at least 3 neighbors all out cutting their grass. I also plan on putting down weed and feed (it's the only time of year we use weed products, yes I know I'm a tad late but not really too late......).

We've had such a cool spring so far it's nice to have a warm day.

So, what are you all doing this Saturday?

LOL - same here, except the grand-daughter part. I'll be going through still unpacked boxes from the move, and gathering things for the huge garage sale next weekend. Today's baseball games have been canceled, as expected.

Later tonight... it's game 1 of the first round of the playoffs - Rockets vs. Trail Blazers. Yeah, baby! GO ROCKETS!

We'll get our fair share of severe wx this spring, we always do. I raked 2 garbage cans of Sweet Gum trees' pods from my back yard. Only to look up into the trees and see hundreds more poised to fall, the next thunderstorm we get. Probably only a matter of days. Why we ever planted these trees.......note to anyone looking to plant new trees - avoid Sweet Gum Maples and Bradford Pears, these split in storms, our street used to be lined with about 60 of them, now we have at best 25 left, the rest have all split in storms.....our two are hanging in there and are huge now but I worry each storm we get they'll come down and hopefully not on my neighbor's car windshield, since they like to park beneath one of these trees.......

Anyway, hoping the bad wx clears up soon in Texas....

No need to feel guilty Mary. Weather happens. If I do want to go anywhere I will need a boat for a while since our streets are currently impassable and the radar shows more on the way. Good in some ways for a weather geek like me, but not the way we like it either.
I can confirm your problem with the trees, especially the sweet gum-uuggghhh!!!

LOL! Naw, can't cut down living things.....yet. Of the 4 trees, none have ever split. They receive water each week during the growing season, either from nature or me. This may be why our Bradfords have never split. They are in healthy shape and we've had several summers of severe draught up here. But I do check all 4 after a storm comes thru.

Had a laugh at your boat comment David. Want to borrow ours? LOL It's an 18 foot Stingray, for skiing. Hubby's getting it ready for the boating season. We could ship it to Texas...he he

In my old house we had a BEAUTIFUL Bradford pear tree. One year it had some fungus on it and I sprayed it, thinking everything was alright. It may have been the next year when Marty and I went to a local diner and a thunderstorm blew through. When we came home and tried to pull into our driveway it was blocked by half of that tree that split right down the middle. I was so upset.

There are Bradford pears all over and you see it time and time again whenever a storm comes through there's a Bradford pear that has been split. They don't have a central, sturdy trunk so the branches over time become too heavy. You get one good wind storm and/or disease and they're goners.
