How do you get to work or school

I thought it would be interesting to see how people commute. Feel free to add any comments to your response.

Drive alone, there is no public trans and it's 51 miles one way to the day job, then I go home in the PM, then go to the other job and that's 17 miles one way; there's public trans for that but by the time I would take it I'd be late tow ork.

Depends on where I am going and when.

School-someone takes me, bus, bike, carpool are all answers
volunteer-someone takes me, carpool, walk, work at home

But more and more I am flying to work (if you want to call it that).

I have a complicated mode of transport lol

It's different on different days for me. I ride a bus most of the time, drive alone some times, and ride a bike when I can.

Our transit system put bike racks on the busses. That's no benefit to me though.

Oops I forgot to add roller blades to the choices. You never know.

I tried the bus to work, $7 round trip back in 2001, not too bad a ride to work, about an hour, but 90 minutes to almost 2 hours home, when my normal drive home is a little over an hour. The bus also included a 10 to 15 minute drive to the bus 'Park and Ride' at each end of the commute.

And the buses didn't always run on schedule, sometimes missing a run, so the next one 15 minutes later was standing room.

The round trip is probably closer to $10 now. Gas for the car is under 5 dollars, about 2 gallons for the round trip, although 250 miles per week does put wear on the car. But it still probably works out similarly.

If I could read on a bus without getting a nauseous headache, I might be more inclined to try it again.

i used to take the subway (train) to work when i lived in toronto, for anyone who has ever taken a toronto subway, you know how frustrating that could be with the crowds.

Now im lucky, i live within a 5-7 minute walk to my workplace, so it goes without saying... i SKATEBOARD to work!

haha
just kidding, that would be funny though.
i just walk, plus i get to exercise daily haha

when i buy my own camel, im gonna ride her to work though. :D

I am a school crossing guard and my post is right outside of my house. I just walk across my back yard and maybe 20 feet down the fence line and there is the crossing. Now I just need a traffic director when the people come to pick up their child. Traffic backs up in both the east and west directions with parents all trying to turn into the driveway of the pick up area. People making the right turn do not want to give the people making left turns a chance to get in . People making a left turn have been known to pull halfway onto the driveway apron and stop with the rear end of their vehicle sticking out into the lane of traffic. Each day there are several near wrecks because of this.

Train. I could get the bus, but the train is probably cheaper and more comfortable.
