(Associated Press) CONOVER, N.C. - Two Domino's Pizza employees were each charged with a felony on Wednesday after a video posted on YouTube showed one of them putting cheese in his nostril and waving meat under his rear end while assembling a sandwich.
Watch the actual video right here on YouTube.
Police in Conover said Wednesday night that 31-year-old Kristy Lynn Hammonds of Taylorsville and 32-year-old Michael Anthony Setzer of Conover are each charged with distributing prohibited foods.
Police chief Gary Lafone says it's the same North Carolina statute that forbids any tampering with Halloween candy.
Eric Farr, spokesman for the Catawba County district attorney's office, didn't return a phone call seeking comment on Wednesday.
The Observer-News-Enterprise of Newton reported Wednesday night that the pair is being held in the Catawba County Jail under $7,500 bond with a court date scheduled for Thursday.
Lafone said the videos alone were enough to charge Hammonds and Setzer.
In one of the videos, Setzer was shown sticking cheese in his nose before placing it on a sandwich and passing gas on salami. Hammonds narrated the video, saying the food with special ingredients would be delivered to customers.
Hammonds has told Domino's corporate office it was merely a prank and that the food was never delivered to customers. Despite her claims, the company insisted on the firings, criminal charges and possibly a lawsuit, said Tim McIntyre, vice president of communications for Domino's. Earlier Wednesday, he described the two workers as "idiots."
Watch Domino's president Patrick Doyle response to the video posted by the former employees.
Lafone said it's still unknown what device Hammonds and Setzer used to make the videos. Lafone said the quality of the video was too good to have been a cell phone.

They could have used a Flip camera . . . small, but good quality video. .

Yeah, I linked to his response in the original post. I don't blame Domino's. I blame those two idiots. I don't think I'll be eating out for a while, though (not that I do very often, anyway). I hear so many stories and our local news does a "Restaurant Report" every week... they inspect area restaurants, give grades, and details... I know where I'll eat and where I won't. Sadly, there's more places to skip than stop by. Some of the stuff they find is absolutely disgusting! Cooking is becoming more and more enjoyable.

Reminds me of the punks caught urinating in the IHOP pancake batter back in the 70's. I haven't been in one since. I can now add Dominos to the list.

They should be forever barred from working in food service.

Totally agree, there is absolutely zero excuse or reason for what they did.

It happens everyday in restaurant kitchens all across the nation.
It is minimum wage revenge.
Basically this. For every time you see something revolting shocking and/or horrifying videotaped and put on the news, figure it's happened 50 times for every 1 time that the perps got caught.
I will tell you that nothing like this happens where I work but we've got some above average people working with us right now. I feel bad for everybody working at Dominos (including you George) because even though this happened at a Dominos in North Carolina, my Pizza Hut here in Texas has been SWAMPED with Dominos customers as of late.

Actually, to be doubly sure, we need to go further and grow our own food and even raise the animals we'll eventually consume (just like most oldtimers used to do).southerngale wrote:...Cooking is becoming more and more enjoyable.
