As a frequent visitor to Norman OK, I remember tracking this tornado while at work. I recall viewing the radar loop and thinking that this could be a big tornado. Little did I realize it was the mother of all F5's. I visited the OKC area a couple of weeks after the tornado and could not believe the destruction......MGC

Re: 10 year anniversary of May 3 OKC F5 Tornado
Yeah that day was perhaps the wierdest/most impressive weather day I can remember. There were tornadoes that began touching down around 4pm or so. I was at work after school, my dad called me (we're both weather junkies and he was ocpd) and ask if I was watching. I said every tv at best buy is turned on the 4, 5 and 9 (okc weather stations).
By 6pm I think most people were at home watching because the store was virtually empty, those that were there were gathered in the home theater area watching all the tornado coverage. Amazement went to horror as that storm turned its way toward the metro. The video and pictures of destruction that began rolling in left you in awe and really very frightened. Pavement ripped from the ground, grass and bark stripped from trees...
I got off work, drove to my dad's house we went to taco bell grabbed a dozen tacos and watched the weather till about 2am. Next morning I woke up for school and there were still three tornado warnings with one confirmed on the ground. It was unreal.
