What is amazing is not only were there so many records (and possibly even more on Sunday)....but the magnitude by which some of the previous records were smashed today was by alot...take Hartford....old record was 87 deg set almost 100 years ago in 1915. Today's high was 91!

A few other records that were amazing...Glens Falls, NY was 89 deg today. Prior record for the date was 78 deg in 1982....broke the record by 11 degrees!!! Poughkeepsie, NY hit 90 deg today, smashing the old record of 82 deg to pieces.

You get the idea....

That is the kind of heat I experienced in NYC at this same time in 2002. I think the high was 94 one day. It was brutal since we had packed for cooler weather and the church where our 150 member choir was practicing had no air as well as the practice room at Carnegie Hall.

It's been AWFUL! I guess that the only blessing is that the dewpoint and humidity is low. Not having any leaves on the trees (though they're popping out now) doesn't help.

My lilacs are blooming - about a week or so early. This is insane. I want to enjoy some 60 and 70 degree weather before we hit the hot stuff.

Reality is returning to the northeast...starting in northern new england right now...

Concord, NH was 92F at 3pm with a SW wind....at 9pm they had dropped over 30 deg to 61F with a breezy north wind.

Burlington, VT was 85F at noon today with a west wind...at 9pm the temp had dropped 36 deg to 49F with a north wind.

Up on Mt. Washington, the temp was a balmy 57F at 3pm (with a west wind at 59 mph). At 9pm, the temp is down to 26F with a NW wind of 46 mph and freezing fog!

Yep, now we're down to the other extreme (well, almost) - about 55 for a high today and going down into the 40's tonight.

We'll be seeing 60 and 70 degree weather the rest of the week. LOVE IT!! :D
