I am saying for the next two weeks the tropics will continue to be slow. Around mid- August if CONDITIONS are right - the tropics will get cranking.

Ticka.. hmmmmmm. I have a feeling we just had our lull and things are going to start heating up within the next 5-7 days. Of course that being said we probably won't have a storm for a month now lol. Anyways, this looks to be an interesting rest of the season.:):):)

I would hasten to predict a two week lull. It is so hard to predict what will happen in the tropics. I just would not ever go out on a limb like that. We have to remain vigilant at all times. :)

I am with ticka on this one. We have had our surprises for this season. Now it is time for the regular season to heat up in about 2 weeks. Stay tuned folks.

I am looking at the latest GFS 12 UTC run and it closes the low off around the 72 Hr mark in the East Atlantic.Of interest also is that disturbed weather North of Hispanola the GFS is picking up on and brings it into Florida in about 96 Hr. By no means does it show anyhting major from this Hispanola glob but it will be interesting to see if anything can get organized this week there:):):)

I don't know who I agree with. A 2 week lull wouldn't surprise me and a TS in a couple of days wouldn't either. How's that for going out on a limb? lol

I'm not so sure. When the situation off the SE Coast resolves itself, if the pattern flips to ridging north or over the top of whatever is left down there, there easily could be a North Carolina player by the weekend. No guarantees one way or the other.

Btw, if you want something to watch, click on the Goes-8 Africa IR. Go as far East as you can (Indian Ocean) and check out the two areas (n/s) of massive convection. This will take 8-10 days to get into the Atlantic, but my money says it's the most impressive wave coming off of Africa year-to-date.
