Just a Quick Shout-Out

#1 Postby Dee Bee » Sun May 17, 2009 8:15 pm

Hi~

It's been a while since I've stopped in. Getting back to the office full-time plus teaching an evening course the second half of the semester was a touch more tiring than I had anticipated.

My last physical and post-stroke neuro check was about three weeks ago: I'm continuing to do very well. My daily affirmation continues to be "Every cell and atom of my body responds to God's love." I've dropped 24 pounds so far, mostly due to better food choices and concentrated calorie reduction (on a nutritionist's program). Now I have to ramp up my exercise routine to shed about 16 more pounds. My nutritionist has suggested a target of 130, to which I drily observed that I was a post-menopausal woman nearing 59, after all....

My darling grandson Dylan is now 4 months old and the size of an average 9 month old: 28 inches long and 18 pounds. Of course, he's the cutest, sweetest, smartest baby boy ever!

The college has begun a 4 day 10-hour workweek for Summer Term so that the campuses can be totally shut down Friday-Saturday-Sunday to save on energy costs. Last Monday through Thursday were killers, but Friday made that all worthwhile.

I'll be visiting Storm2K more frequently as my work load slows down a bit -- hopefully to catch up with everyone and not to track hurricanes heading for SoFla!

Hey stranger! Glad to hear that all is going well, and hopefully the work load slows down some so you can focus on other things.

I agree with the hopefully not tracking hurricanes heading towards Florida. I got family along the east coast (Volusia County...I think I spelled that right?), and just recently have an added interest to the Orlando area *smirks* long story there.

Hi Dee Bee - welcome back! Hopefully the summer session won't be as tiring as your spring was (your 10 hour work days sound brutal but I'm sure those Fridays were oh so nice, as you said!)........enjoy your grandson, catch a break when you can and visit with us - anytime.

I'll be looking for more work soon too so I may not be around as much. With this current economy I am finding that the old normal? GONE! The school district I work for is cutting jobs this week. I am braced if they lay me off today.......or soon. I am their newest employee.....Yikes! But it might be the very kick in the pants I will need to switch to clerical jobs.......so if I do get laid it off I'm going to look at it like a silver lining.....

Take care.....
Mary

We do have to stick up for ourselves!

I'm so glad that you are doing well and grandson is happy and healthy. I swear that most babies are "above normal" now a days.
