IMO, Adam won tonight hands down. Kris has improved immensely, but he is no Adam and for that matter Adam has improved too and they are definitely from two different worlds. I do think Adam has show plenty of versatility and has the better stage presence(though overly theatrical sometimes). Overall I have to give it to Adam. Do I think he will be the winner? No, I think Kris will win due to the Gokey voters heading his way. I don't think they will go for Adam.

I think the judges are for Adam because he is amazing.
Kris is good but not great. He seems like a really nice guy but this is a singing competition and Adam is the best.

Now, do I think Adam will win? No, for the same reason David gave.

DialIdol is too close to call for the first time in 8 seasons(it has correctly picked the winner in the past 7 seasons). Kris has a VERY VERY VERY tiny lead but it's within the margin of error.

I absolutely cannot stand this show, but after seeing the endless coverage on the news (because theres nothing more important in Florida it seems), I want Kris to win because Adam looks like a Fall Out Boy wannabe.

That he isn't. He's original and there's nothing contrived about him.

Yes, the judges are obviously for Adam. I think in part it is because he is one person that has automatic star quality. I think he's the only one from any season that was so obvious from day one. The other winners had talent, but had to grow into the performer. That's another reason why I think that he should win.

However, the two of them could not be anymore different and unfortunately one has to win. I'm hoping for a Season 2 scenerio where the winner and runner up both get a contract like Clay did. Kris has DEFINITELY come a long way and his confidence has really soared. He's becoming more comfortable performing in front of others - heck, he even gave his mother a coupon book for her birthday for her to give him a coupon everytime she wanted to hear him sing!

However, I do think that the runner up may be more fortunate than they will realize later because they are not under that "AI winner" umbrella that in many cases have not capitalized on the winner's natural talent, but on what they want them to be. I really think that either one of them, especially Adam, will have a contract within days of AI being over, if they are runner up.

My mom doesn't like Adam either for the same reason. Shockingly she didn't know he was gay til I TOLD HER YESTERDAY. I knew months ago, LOL. I can't believe she didn't even suspect it(she usually can :P ), there were photos online afterall...

I am favoring Kris to win also but frankly I don't care one way or the other. I don't really have any excitement about it. I'm not even watching the finale til the final hour.

I think that I should've waited until the second hour myself....

Kris is really holding his own with Keith Urban. Great duet! :D

C'mon with the golden bs - I want to see the two winners! This filler is horrendous. :x

Cindy Lauper is ageless. Great duet - Allison and Cindy really played off of each other well. :)

I'm SO HAPPY that Danny got to sing with Lionel Ritchie! What a great opportunity! :D

KISS suits Adam very well! LOL! That was great! :D

It was great to see Rod Stewart and hear good old Maggie May! :)

LOL at Tatiana's dramatics. That was freaking hilarious and totally embarassing. They should have just cut her off.

Total YouTube moment.

Adam really should have won though his voice blows out Kris by far did you listen to them sing "We are the Champions" together? I mean Kris does seem like a better artist and has a wide variety of skills like guitar , piano, singing, etc.. But come on Adam voice sounds like it came from the heavens and he put up a heck of a show. I just feel Adam lost partially due to his image which is that he is a homosexual male which is not accepted nicely in many parts of America while Kris has that squeaky clean strong Christian image that might have helped boost his fan base a lot. Either way they're both great and will both probably do great out there in the music world.

Ok, ponder this. If Adam is so talented and great why isn't he already a star? Wasn't he already living in LA for his career?

I think Kris is more marketable for the recording companies. Adam would be good in musicals (Broadway) but i can't see him putting out an album. I think you lose something with Adam if you're just listening to his voice. He's one you have to see and hear at the same time. But that's just my opinion.

I am probably in the minority here, but I thoroughly enjoyed tonights finale. What a wealth of talent and dreams come true for the AI performers to get to work with so many music legends. Both my wife and I felt it was by far the best finale ever. As if suspected Kris won and I think for the reasoning I gave. Adam is an incredible talent and has now been "discovered" He will have a fantastic career no matter what and now Kris has a much better chance at a big career thanks to his winning AI.

Again David, I agree with you 100%. It was a great show and I really enjoyed it. Adam was amazing as he has been all season in every single number he has performed. He seems like such a great guy. Did you see him kinda move Kris to the side so that he was not blocked by the guy who had the vote envelope? I loved when Kris won and said Adam should have won.

I can't even imagine how many talented people there are in the country that have never been discovered or given the chance to show their real worth week after week. Adam and Kris got that chance and I think they will do well. I am a little afraid that Kris might turn out to be another Taylor Hicks. Adam is definitely a diamond that was waiting to be found and will shine brightly for many years.

I'm not afraid for Adam's career what so ever. He is definitely someone you have to see performing, but listening to the studio versions of the majority of songs he performed on AI, you really don't lose much. I think everyone is spoiled by seeing an excellent performance. A voice recording is never a true replacement.

I had the feeling that it was going to be Kris for the reasons David gave but now I do believe that Adam will be freer to be himself. Kris fits the AI mold better. I just hope that they give him GOOD material and lets Kris be Kris. Let him play the guitar and piano and let him make the song his own.

I was THRILLED for Adam that they had Queen perform since he idolizes Freddie Mercury. I wish it was all Adam singing "We Are the Champions" with Queen, but I believe that the song choice and the duet between Adam and Kris was appropriate. They are champions.

Looking forward to what Adam comes up with - I know it's going to be fabulous. :)

I don't think it was all about Adam, but mostly about AI. As he said, to each his own.

Kris Allen Talks ‘Idol’ Win: ‘I’m Just A Regular Guy’

LOS ANGELES, Calif. --

Kris Allen picked up the “American Idol” title on Wednesday night, and while it may have shocked some media pundits who were expecting an Adam Lambert victory, a source close to the show revealed the final vote was not even close.

A top FOX source told Access Hollywood that the vote left Kris as the clear winner by a large margin.

And upon learning the news during his visit to Access Hollywood and “The Billy Bush” show on Wednesday morning, Kris wasn’t sure how to take the information.

“Really?” Kris said. “America’s gonna vote whichever way they want to… I don’t know. Whatever happened last night, was just a — it’s a total surprise for me so I don’t even know how to feel about that.”

When asked why he thought he prevailed over Adam, the 23-year-old Conway, Ark., singer suggested it may have been because he is “just a regular guy.”

“There’s not a whole lot of people that approve of the whole guy-liner thing and the nail polish and all that,” Kris said. “But for me, I love Adam and I think he’s one of the greatest people that I’ve met so far. For me, I’m just a regular guy and I think a lot of people just related to me.”

And Adam had Kris’ back – including just moments after the young man won the title, reminding him he had to sing “No Boundaries,” a song co-penned by “Idol” judge, Kara DioGuardi.

“Seriously, Adam hugged me and goes, ‘You have to sing that song now.’ I was like ‘Ohhhh gosh!’” Kris said of the moment. “I was like ‘OK, just sing it!’ I thought it went OK.”

As for the song, which Randy Jackson and Kara both decided might be too high for Kris during Tuesday’s competition, Kris admitted it is a tough tune to belt out.

“I like the song. It’s tough to sing, I’m not gonna lie. It’s a rough song, but Kara’s a great writer,” Kris said. “It was so much fun working with her in the studio. She’s a lot of fun to work with.”

Slightly easier was performing with superstars Keith Urban and Queen on the show’s season finale.

“Playing with Keith Urban, it was really great,” Kris said. “Getting to meet him — he’s just a laid back guy, just a cool guy, laid back just like I am and he was like, ‘Lets go out there,’ and that’s what we did. And had a great time and getting to play with Brian May and sing with him and sing with Queen? Wow! That was priceless.”

Another priceless moment came for Kris at the end of the show, when his wife of seven months, Katy, came on stage for a celebratory embrace.

“She’s been my biggest supporter and since we got together seven years ago, she’s always tried to make me work harder at music,” Kris said of his lady love. “She believed in me a lot because there were times when I wanted to give up and she was like, ‘No, don’t stop, you’re really great and you need to keep doing this and you’re not gonna be happy unless you keep doing this,’ and I think she’s happy that my dream has come true.”
