This is the general tropical discussion area. Anyone can take their shot at predicting a storms path.

Low Pressure Off Of The SE US (FL/GA)

#1 Postby brunota2003 » Sat Jun 06, 2009 8:15 pm

Yeah, it is connected to a front and has very, very little chance of anything, but CALM DOWN! It is in an area to be watched for the early season ("Home brewed") and we did see TD #1 in this area not too long ago. Last I checked there was nothing at the surface, just a broad area connected to a front.

Lowest pressures I see in the area are about 1014 millibars (ouch, talk about high pressures).

Was watching that a little earlier. A small portion seems to be meandering off towards the west, over land and into the gulf... just along the GA/FLA border, but lots of drier air there... shear is decreasing in the immediate vicinity, but increasing a little west into the gulf.

Its moving into a lower shear environment but SST's are marginal at best unless it can get over the gulf stream. Plus it needs to break away from the front.

Chances of tropical/subtropical development in my opinion are about 10 percent.

Where is this little guy? Is it right off the Georgia Coast, or South Carolina? Looking at satellite and radar seems to indicate South Carolina, but I'm not 100% sure.

I think this is the predicted GOM Low that developed a little more east than expected.

Too early with too much land interaction.

Only to point out that the NAM has a low pressure well east of Cape Hatteras.

Buoy 41004 SE of Charleston has water temp at ~78 http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41004. Winds are extremely light, but maybe something right on the coast.
