The postponement was more effective than I thought, and I concede that 6 million people may or may not have been worth it. At least the remaining 2 million will get no sympathy - no third chances, right? They're either lazy, in which case they don't deserve it, or poor.

However, those in the latter category can probably survive on (gasp!) newspapers or the internet (if they have it; maybe at the library?) until they get their new more advanced televisions or converter boxes, and I'm sure none of them are going to die over it.

After all, it's JUST television.

Now that it is here, does anyone see a difference in the picture if you are not already on an HD or digital TV? We definitely notice the difference on our TVs, none of which are hd or digital but are all hooked up to cable. The smallest oldest tv probably needs to be replaced or since it isn't on a digital cable box that may be part of the problem. The picture is even better on it, but the difference isn't as noticeable.

People without power will not be able to watch battery powered tv during or after storms anymore. The converters require power as well.

We have simple cable and I've noticed no difference at all. I have the 4 networks in HD which have always been crystal clear for the past over a year now but there was no change. The other channels aren't quite as good, but some are worse than others and the exact same as before. I think what the cable companies do is simply compress the digital signal to analog.
