Have any of you heard of geocaching? Have you found any good treasure?

My husband and I geocache but haven't gotten any "great" treasures (though one place in the middle of nowhere had TP and that was a fantastic find when the nearest gas station is about 100 miles away).

It's a wonderful way though to discover areas that one may not be aware of........some geocaches just exist to give historical/geographical information.

They did a story on this on Bay News 9 a while back, but I never started. I just looked at that map, and there is something not too far from here, I might go look! lol

Oh geez...yes I geocache. My wife and I have found 312 of them so far. Mostly in Pennsyvlania, but we have finds in 10 out of the 50 states so far. We have hidden 5 caches around the Pittsburgh area. We found the 2nd oldest cache in all of New England last time we were at my parents. We learned that Marie Curie visited the Standard Chemical Company in Canonsburg, PA, because it operated a Radium refining mill. One of our caches that we setup explains the history behind the Frankfort Mineral Springs area of Beaver County, PA. We plan most of our trips now around geocaching. Its a great way to get outside for us and to enjoy what nature has to offer. 4th of July weekend - we are heading up to Cyahoug Falls National Park south of Cleveland for a geocaching trip. We use a Garmin GPS 60CS as our unit of choice out in the search.

Going out to get some geocaching done today. Going to dodge the rain drops and find some good hide I'm hoping.
