That's the high pressure cooking us under clear skies. Air conditioning city. Good for solar power.

We don't exactly have clear skies over on the east coast. Have some cumulus, and altostratus over most of the area, indicating the cap is in place, but not blocking out the sun. Once the convection overpowers the cap, expect t-storms to explode in an isolated fashion.

June is the wettest month of the year (on average) in south florida...so even though we have been seeing rain, reporting stations are generally running below normal in terms of month-to-date rainfall.....due largely to more isolated rain during the past week.

Rainfall June 1-15 (departure from normal in ( ) )
Miami = 3.79" (-0.54")
Fort Lauderdale = 2.92" (-2.10")
Naples = 0.78" (-3.06")

Blazing heat outside. St. Pete/Clearwater Airport Heat Index: 104*F
Heat Index will peak near 105*F all week.
Not much rain, brief moderate downpour- but a burst of strong winds
with the storm earlier, probably 35-40 mph gust.

Tallahassee FL hit 100F officially, a new record for today.
Key West with 90F also was their 2nd official 90 degree day of the year.
