Most of FL Under Water by End of Century

New government report says most of Florida will be under water by the end of the century and that climate change is happening now.

Not good. Also says "Sea levels have already risen by 8 inches or more in some coastal areas of the U.S." Property levels along the Gulf coast are going to drop rapidly if this keeps up and insurance will probably go away as companies pull out. Add this to the threat of hurricanes and it is understandable why a commercial entity would not want to ensure a single home in the southern coastal states. Southern coastal residents will be on their own and eventually homeless it would seem.

I'd take that with a grain of salt, for a few reasons:

First, it's a Time magazine article - that reason is reason enough on it's own (if we took all of what they said to heart, we would stay in bed all day - with the covers over our head)...

Next, not one scientist can say for certain how things will change - just last week, an article said that scientists were surprised that a certain antarctic ice field continues to expand (they thought it would have melted by now)...

Third, some scientists say that higher CO2 rates will lead to another ice age - while some say what is said in the article...

As Mike Seaver (Growing Pains) would say, "They don't have a clue..."

However, when I see the incredible amount of skyscrapers built in downtown Miami - just feet from the ocean - it makes me realize how foolish man can be sometimes...

Well, considering I know quite a bit of Florida is at least 50 feet or higher, there will be a lot more coastline than just "Florida" that would be underwater...and I guess I'll see first hand, since I'll probably be moving to Florida in a few years and living there.

This is natural. Much of Florida was underwater in the not too long ago......MGC
