I don't think well have seaon cancel threads since most members already know this season will be slow to begin with.

I use to give date predictions on the first storm, but I don't anymore. It's all just a crapshoot really, as nobody has a clue(including myself)

If we went the entire month of July without a named storm, it wouldn't be that odd would it??
We are kinda due for a really slow season. Perhaps we will get lucky and it will be one of those years where we don't get anything in July and then perhaps a a couple of strong fishies in mid August through September, mixed in a couple of landfalling tropical storms....

We could all use a year like that, and it is certainly possible, but of course too early to say.

I'm end of July as well. I'm nervous now. May not be until August.

I'm not "Season Cancel", but I'm thinking single digits, such that my preseason storm/hurricane/intense numbers are almost certainly toast.

A couple of months early, more of an Autumn time thing, but I'm still on the watch for a Hurricane Rosa remnants crossing the Sierra Madre and ending the Houston drought in one swell foop watch mode for September and October.

I think this year will be like 1997 in which that year was 8 storms. I originally thought 13/7/3 I don't think I'll be close. This is just a feeling I have.By the time we get into Aug and Sept shear will probably be a factor because of El Nino. My expectations are already low for this season so if nothing happens during the height of the season I won't be surprised.

If you subtract the 4 storms of non-tropical origin, finishing with minimal Cat 1 Hurricane Danny in July, from the 1997 total, the season primetime was almost 'season cancel'.

I"m not sure how many storms will form this year, but my numbers are low as well....Didn't last year start late, and then there was a pretty busy period, but then it died off pretty quickly after that?

I don't think we will know if it's going to be a slow season for another month and 1/2. We should have a very good idea by then though.

Actually last year started really busy, Arthur formed May 31st and then during July we had Bertha (cat 3), Cristobal and Dolly. And it didn't die off quickly, we had Paloma (cat 4) during November. Your description seems to be of 2004 season, it started really late and died quickly on early October.
