I think that is a gustfront infront of the cells, temperatures before the rain were 100-103 and after 82 in Plano, And we are creeping back into 90.

Only reached 105º here at the house today!!   If I do a naked rain dance in the middle of the street will it attract those red spots on the radar?

Edit: Oops, forgot to add that the official high today was 104ºf and all time high for June eclipsing even the 103ºf June record set during the 1980 heat wave.

We are in our 4th hour of 101 temp. And our 5th hour of 100+ temps. This is just truly miserable.

NWS climate reports that we broke our record high of 99 that has been held since 1930. Today's high was 102.

I had a high today of 107.4F at my house - I think that's the hottest temp. I've experienced in many years.

I watered the lawn again last night, about an hour each front and back.

I don't remember 80 beecause I was barely one years old, but is this worse?

I do remember 80 ( I was 15) and this (if it keeps up) could approach it.

Yeah, looks like some storms developing off the North beltway near IAH.... official Houston might just get a drop or two of rain and break the 30+ day rainless spell...

Anyways 2pm temps

Definitely running a close second so far. We had a 1 year old at the time and it was tough to keep the house below 80º even with AC.

Currently 102ºf at the house with a HI of 110ºf.

Edit to add this snippet from Jeff Lindner:
If the temperature does not fall below 84 by midnight tonight the low today of 84 is the warmest ever recorded in Houston history dating back to 1895.

afternoon e-mail from Jeff Lindner...

Temps. cracking 100 at several sites again this afternoon with CLL already reaching 104 as of 157pm. IAH has been hovering around 98 with a nearby thunderstorm…in fact the airport might have gotten wet breaking the 31 day string without rainfall…we will see on the evening climate report.

Within the last hour the radar has shown a rapid increase in shower and thunderstorms across the area…so maybe more of us will see a brief wetting shower this afternoon. Should continue to see development into the evening hours as heating destabilizes the air mass.

Note:

If the temperature does not fall below 84 by midnight tonight the low today of 84 is the warmest ever recorded in Houston history dating back to 1895.
