Several of my friends were home schooled, and they are just fine.

I was Home-Schooled, thanks.

Shh Opie, you just partially proved his statement.
Eh probably so, I was home schooled for only 3 years though....school in general just never clicked with me. My younger brother, on the other hand, was home schooled from kindergarten up til High School and there he had over a 3.5 gpa and was involved in a bunch of groups including the basketball and football team and was just accepted to UF this past spring. But apparently he's a weird one according to homer simpson here. It's unfortunate homeschooling gets such a bad rep because it really works for most.

I wasn't aware so many people on this board are either home-schooled themselves or pro-homeschooling.

I've seen it go both ways so certainly it's not always a strange outcome as you will. It depends on the situation and the parents ability to normalize the circumstances. The people who have been both home-school led and been in public school for a certain amount of time have the most advantage in my mind since they are exposed to both forms of education and usually reap the benefits.

My (very weird) cousin home schools her son. He is very weird. And, he is way behind in math. I have some friends who home school their children, neice and nephews. Those kids are doing great. Just as some public schools are better than others, some home schools are better than others. Personally, I see a place for both. I know that I don't have the patience to home school my children. The education system is this county is one of opportunities given and opportunities lost. A somewhat motivated child has many opportunities to suceed. All that is needed is the support of the teacher and parents. If any party gives up, failure is the likely outcome. I went to public school and my kids are going to public school. It works for me.
