105F right now at the house, 104 Mabry, 103 AUS.

Another record broken

I got the front sprinklers sorted out - now I have to figure out what's up with the backyard... it looks like we're growing hay. Already dry hay.

Yeah, and it felt every degree of it too, didn't it?! More of the same today.

What can we do to keep this high pressure ridge to the north or west of us?!

NWS forecasting a weak front and possible precip on Monday and Tuesday ... wouldn't that be wonderful?

Wow....I wasn't expecting this! A cell formed up just east of us and ended up parking over us for a while. We ended up with 1.8" of rain. I found out that the downspout that I thought I had unplugged after a similar rain in May was still full of debris. The temp dropped from about 99 to below 80. We're in the northeast of Angleton, Tx.

lol send rain!

On a more serious note, our car thermometer was reading 111 (It was reading 122 when we first started which I knew was false, but I've never seen a false 122 either before!)

It's horribly hot out - I can tell when it feels over 105F because I'm ok running errands up until then, after that I feel like I do now.

I came home thinking the car has to be reading hot - and our home digital in the shade facing north readout is 110.2F... I think our house is in a pressure cooker!!!

I can't find anyplace else online that's registering near that high but what's odd is that our home reading is not usually all that far off ...

I waited and went back and checked personal weather stations near us and while I was posting, the 2 stations closest to us had high readings - 108.5 south of us and 112.9 north of us......

I don't know how accurate they are either but it's interesting that we all went really hot at the same time....

Those readings do seem a bit excessive but you know ... I suppose it is possible. It could be some type of urban heat island effect, maybe? Since all three locations (including your own) registered higher temps than what Mabry and Bergstrom were reporting, there has to be something to it. I did notice that the hourly readings on Saturday at Mabry showed nothing more than 101 but the 6-hour maximum was recorded at 105, so did Mabry also have some kind of temperature spike? Very interesting.

Regardless, it was/is scorching hot!

Non-stop thunderstorm in downtown Austin for the last hour with copious rains falling around the metro area. This is good stuff!

Raining here too!

Lightning too.

On a lighter note, the dog won't leave the patio. Guess she's waiting for the strange stuff falling out of the sky to stop? Dunno! Good thing she has an iron bladder tho.....
