104ºF in Palm Springs, CA, and they are two hours earlier in the day. And this is unusual for us.

If it weren't for the occasional heat wave in our normally Mediteranean climate, how would you appreciate cool spells and snow miracles in Winter?

102ºf at the house with an HI of 106ºf currently. High so far today 105ºf. Not a shower anywhere near us either. This is doing it's very best to rival or beat the hell of 1980!

I don't remember 1980's heat as I was just a little kid and didn't care how hot it was outside, but dang... it sure has been super hot lately. These temps are just unreal, for June, and for so many days in a row. My oh my.

101 today, 3rd day in a row with 100+ temps. A few more showers around today but of course never saw one drop. No end in sight once again.

I remember 1980 too well. Those "bunker suites" were awefully heavy as a fire fighter. Dang I'm getting old.

Jeff's email for taoday:
Records fall again on Friday with IAH once again reaching 104 tying the all-time June monthly record set a few days earlier.

Powerful upper level high remains in control of the weather...although the radar this morning shows a few more scattered showers along the coast where a bit of deeper moisture has pooled. Already up to the mid to upper 80's at 800am so highs once again in the low 100's look good. May see highs creep up a degree or two on Sunday into the mid 100's as the 700mb and 850mb levels warm slightly.

Upper ridge should shift far enough westward and weaken slightly Monday -Wednesday to allow a weak boundary and pooling moisture over the area. Progs show PWS increasing to near 1.7 inches, cooling 850mb temps. and weakening subsidence all pointing to at least a chance of rainfall. Will brush the entire period with 30%, although may need to go higher on Tuesday with a surface boundary across the region. May finally see some decent coverage and wetting rains...although still not expecting everyone to get wet. There after the upper ridge builds back into the area for the July 4th weekend with temps. returning to the upper 90's and low 100's.

93L:

Area of disturbed weather continues over the western Caribbean Sea this morning. Shower and thunderstorm activity has become slightly more disorganized over the past 12 hours as the system has drifted toward the NW. Global models continue to be less impressed with this feature with only really the HWRF hurricane model showing any real development. With no surface low in place and convection only moderate development if any will be slow. Expect the system to drift NW and then N into the south-central Gulf of Mexico early next week. As the ridge over TX weakens and shifts westward and downstream trough will deepen over the eastern Gulf coast allowing this feature to turn toward the NE and move towards Florida.

More heat   with a small glimmer of hope for Tuesday then more heat.  I think I've travelled back in time to 1980!

Major cool-down today as the high only reached 97  . Thought we would make it four days in a row of 100+ but the clouds said no. I swear it looked as if it wanted to rain for a few hours around mid-day but of course nothing and we were sunny again by late afternoon. The showers/storms have been very isolated but St Mary parish seems to keep getting hit as well as the Baton Rouge area that has seen 2"-5" of rain in spots in the past two days based on radar. When will it be MY day to get rain?! You know the drought is getting bad when I had to let the hose run on some evergreen shrubs today that were turning yellow. Can't remember ever having to water the shrubs so they don't die but by next week it will be a month without rain. GFS shows hope for some better chances early next week and then a major pattern change by late in the week but I feel like we were saying the same thing a week ago now so who knows. PLEASE RAIN!!!!!!!

Old MacDonald's Farm is one mile from my house. You must have got some rain nearer you than me. I did not see anything. LOL

Missed us, 101ºF at the big airport, with 0.27" rain. They have over half an inch on the month. The house, nada.
