I got caught in a nice Thunderstorm in New Orleans yesterday - except that it was during rush hour on the way to the airport! It was nice to see rain though. I almost forgot what it looked like.

When I got home, there was lots of wind, thunder, and a few sprinkles. What I got from all that was a whopping .01" of rain and a bunch of debris in my pool...

Here's to hoping today is better :-)

The skies opened up between New Iberia and Lafayette on the drive home yesterday. Lights were malfunctioning and the radio personalities were busy yesterday.

Rain = people forget how to drive.

It looked promising for decent rain yesterday... it got really windy and, had a lot of thunder and lightning, but I only got light rain. The radar split with yellow over me, but reds and oranges to my east and west. grrr! But I guess I should be grateful for even that little bit. 10 minutes away, my parents got some of that red... they had standing water!

My post disappeared - anyway
looks like outflows about to collide right over Houston, just in time to create some fun for the PM commuters.

Too bad it's south of me though and will possibly cutoff any chance for future development up north for me. That outflow moving south thru northern Harris will kill those chances. I don't get how those little piddly showers from earlier produced such a strong/pronounced outflow boundry........ugh......the drought Gods will win again it looks like.

:uarrow: I was wondering that too. And it set off quite a slew of showers on the SW side of the metro. I didn't get anything this round. Looks like we will be back in the 100's by Friday. :woo: NOT!!!

Late yesterday afternoon, there were storms southwest of here that prompted Severe Weather Warnings, we heard thunder, but nada at my house, or my parent's house, where we were swimming at the time. We got out of the pool, though. The ol' if you can hear thunder, you can be struck by lightning rule. Several days of pop-up showers and some decent totals here and there, and I missed out for the most part... light rain for a little while one day. It dried up quickly. Maybe one day soon, it will really rain again. Feast or famine! I moved here in November and had to pull the hose out for the first time a few weeks ago. I prefer natural watering.

Here in The Woodlands we had 2 days of tease!! Storms all around us and according to the news there were areas that received anywhere from 1.5" to 3" yesterday to our NE, NW, W, and S but not a drop here either. We are in desperate need of rain but relief looks slim.

:uarrow:

yep, nothing for me but there was a dousing just down the road.

At one point there was rain to my N, S, E, and west. All I got was another gusty outflow boundry and another mess to clean-up.

Yep, I could even smell the rain and perhaps even feel a mist from the wind..I know that is stretching it but I would take almost anything. Judging by the pine needles everywhere you would have thought a major storm just passed! Also, got to love how people are abiding by the water restrictions.

Well, it looks like the same thing is hapening today, just further south.

And we know those showers this AM didn't really produce much of an outflow, at least one with any 'oomph' to it.

But I think it's clear now what is happening: it's just differential heating causing the leftover outflow/cooler air to rush south, and at the same time causing the seabreeze from the south to move north. I can see it on radar right now.....it's just the differential heating is so pronouced, those boundries are starting to react to the heat and move.

100ºF (38º) at the Big Airport.

Activity along the sea breeze as close as Brazoria County, but awfully humble looking cu outside my window.

My wife and kids have left me.

Well, only until we get the AC fixed.

Just happened this afternoon.

Warmer than last September, but that was 6 nights without even a ceiling fan.
