Bill Gates fill technology patents to suppress hurricanes

#1 Postby littlevince » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:38 am

Bill Gates tries to stop hurricanes:

Recent patent filings have shown Bill Gates and his friends exploring subjects as diverse as electromagnetic engines and beer kegs. Now they're thinking even bigger -- trying to stop hurricanes.

Microsoft's chairman is among the inventors listed on a new batch of patent applications that propose using large fleets of vessels to suppress hurricanes through various methods of mixing warm water from the surface of the ocean with colder water at greater depths. The idea is to decrease the surface temperature, reducing or eliminating the heat-driven condensation that fuels the giant storms

Water alteration structure applications and methods

A method is generally described which includes environmental alteration. The method includes determining a placement of at least one vessel capable of moving water to lower depths in the water via wave induced downwelling. The method also includes placing the at least one vessel in the determined placement. Further, the method includes generating movement of the water adjacent the surface of the water in response to the placing.

How about a patent to move cold air from up north down here to dallas during the summer? But I'll be willing to wait until he figures out a way for my pc to recognize my network printer.

One vessel won't do much. Gates should try to fix all the problems that the Windows systems have before trying to stop hurricanes. In Spanish we have a saying "zapatero a su zapato" meaning, keep doing what you know what to do.

I get really upset everytime someone says that is trying to find a way to stop hurricanes, that is not the right way to stop the destruction of these nature's wonders.

Yeah! A couple dozen hydrogen bombs set off simultaneously around the core of a hurricane should do the trick. No new technology needed! As a side benefit, most of the fish in the Atlantic would glow in the dark for decades, making them easier to find for fishermen. ;-)

Are you sure? That sounds like something telling "shoemakers to your shoe."

Reminds me, while noticing last week that Popo's beach house is indeed gone, and they are reinstalling sewer and water, but a lot of broken beach homes remain, I got a sunburn from my ankles up to where my socks normally are during yardwork, and in the little patches of skin on my feet where they put the vent holes on my cheap Wal-Mart knock-off Crocs.

It's like that. It's normally used when you see someone not doing its job, like when you are in school and you're talking when you should be doing exercises, you tell the person "zapatero a sus zapatos." Meaning, go to do what you should be doing.

"Cazadores a sus venados" would have more of a fun "lets get ready to rumble" feel.

Downloaded the latest version of Explorer, and I don't like it. I'm not one of those Volvo or Prius driving chardonnay and brie types that buy a Mac or use Firefox, but if this keeps up, I just might be forced to.

If we could get our Guadeloupe posters to come up with an equivalent French expression, that'd really be cool, because I don't know French at all, but when I lived in Louisiana, I liked to pronounce place names like "St. Martinville" or "Bayou des Glaises" with a really nasally faux French accent and eat my last consonant.

The Atlantic as a whole is far too big, but a string of nuclear powered tension leg platforms aligned about 300 miles off the Texas coast, each using giant screw pumps with suction 1000' or more down, to upwell the chill waters of the Deep Water, would seem a good way to protect our valuable oil and petrochemical infrastructure.

I'd just hope it wouldn't cool the immediate Texas coastal waters and hurt tourism.

I only use it to send pictures when using hotmail. Firefox and Chrome are infinitely better than IE.

I guess Bill Gates isn't quite as smart as I thought he was(not that he doesn't make me and my knowledge look like a babe in arms compared to him).
When will people learn? DON'T MESS WITH MOTHER NATURE!!!!! You will not win!!!

The comments posted on the link provided by the OP are hilarious, people are actually taking this seriously!

Bill should stick to fixing Windows and the Red Ring of Death on the 360.

Mount mobile dopplers on a fleet of small ships and send them out cruising the Atlantic with grant money? Maybe a special Weather Channel catamaran or windjammer for Mike Bettes?

Ingenious!
