#1 Postby weathernms » Sat Jul 11, 2009 10:49 am

The Endeavour and a seven-astronaut crew are slated to blast off this evening at 7:39 p.m. EDT, from its seaside launch pad at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

NASA is trying the impossible: Launching early evening in Florida in July. Do they really expect to get a launch in?

It is a difficult time of day to launch. But, the space station is in position that requires launch at a certain time so the shuttle can catch up with the station.....MGC

Is there an impediment to launch in the morning?

If you want good weather in Florida during the summer, try mornings!!!

Holding at the 9:00 minute mark...currently no-go because of lightning. Hopefully the weather will move away in time for the launch....MGC

As long as no popcorn storms pop, and there are no bolts from the blue, weather should be fine. Storms are outside of the parameters.

It's on its way. No visibility from here, much too bright.

This mission marks two milestones:

° STS-127 marks the first time that two Canadian astronauts, Robert Thirsk and Julie Payette, are in space at the same time.

° Christopher Cassidy was the 500th person to fly in space.
