Amen to the good news. Strokes at any age are terrible, of course, but when there is a prognosis of recovery this soon after the occurrence, that is very hopeful.

Be patient in your expectations, and be mindful that her return to normalcy may still bring with it lingering issues that can get better over time.

I'm reminded by every such event of my mom's stroke now almost 38 years ago. We did not get to say goodbye.

Your time, her time is a gift. Make use of it to laugh and remember and make new memories too.

Mom is now in a rehab facility in her hometown and continuing to improve. Prognosis is for a full recovery and for that we are forever thankful. Still many things to be discussed and decisions to be made as we progress, but one thing at a time and no rushing into anything. This episode did scare her and hopefully will move her to some actions she needs to take. I too will be nudging from this end on a regular basis re certain things all the while carefully "picking my battles". Interestingly I had started to plan a surprise visit later this summer to do an assessment of exactly how well my Mom was actually doing as opposed to what she tells me. She is one of those "I don't want to worry you" people. With full range while I was at the condo of an evening, I made some "discoveries" and between myself and the fully cooperating doctors some adjustments will be made. Once again, thanks everyone for your support and prayers!! This is quite the "family" we have here at STORM2K.

I glad to hear that your mother is recovering so well! I wish my mother had listened to me when I found out she was sick. I lost her on Dec 31 2003.
