Things are heating up at Barbados...hope all is ok in this type of situation.

Well that little rain storm from what I am seeing has given Rockley 1.69 inches - I now have my own private lake again in the hollow at the side of my house. Happens about two to three times a year when the ground cannot absorb faster than it is coming down. It is currently drizzling and looking at the Satellite we are not too far away from the next round of thunder/lightening and rain.

Okay, things have calmed down quite a bit since my last post when there was a period of heavy rain with thunder. Right now it's just overcast and drizzling but it's getting dark in the east again! Unlike Gustywind, I haven't experienced any strong winds as yet. As a matter of fact, there's hardly been any wind to speak of for the entire morning.

OK glad to see that, yeah you're right another round of showers and thunderstorms seems to race near Barbados, some "twave Invest action" today testifying how close we're in this hurricace season. I advice you to so stay prudent as you're usually :) Abajan!

Spouse in St Kitts reports just cloudy, some wind (he's not a weather fanatic :( ), and some rain. He's a birder and yesterday to his delight he got a new lifer: "one spectacular, a large black hummingbird with blue-green wings and an iridescent purple throat, the purple-throated carib.: :)

Maybe he'll send me an update soon.

Right now it's almost overcast with just a little bit of blue sky peeping through and winds are almost calm. Already there have been some showers overnight and this morning. Just within the last 15 minutes or so, there have been some distant peals of thunder.

Hi guys, just a quick update from Trinidad. I'm in West Trinidad at the tip of the Gulf of Paria. The skies were bright this morning after some awesome cloud formation last evening. I took pics but forgot the memory stick home...
I was just summoned outside by the loud booms of thunder. The west skies are still blue but the same ominous cloud formations are present in the east, and approaching fast. I understand that there have been heavy storms farther east. Can't get a fix on the winds to see whether this is travelling to join 97L or whether these are outflow.
Rains are now starting at my location, and my hubby tells me Port of Spain is bad with heavy rains and very loud cracks of thunder. Waiting to see what happens with flash flooding. Will keep in touch.
To my dear friends further North, we do want your updates but please remember your safety comes first...

Only one word for all of us : WIND WIND WIND!
A sailor from Guadeloupe once again emphasizes on the strong winds abating on Guadeloupe yesterday and continuing pretty much today due to the active twave. No doubts trades winds are somewhat pretty solid.
Big Wind in Guadeloupe

http://www.stormcarib.com/reports/curre ... oupe.shtml

Set off to Guadeloupe from Antigua on Friday in the hope of beating the incoming weather - and we did for the most part. Unfortunately we had 50 kts gusts near Basseterre with 40 – 45 kts constant in the Saintes Channel. Destroyed the mainsail on the yacht and broke the goose neck – will be able to repair the sail temporarily but the new one is already on order! Very windy over the weekend in Guadeloupe and the Traditional Canots sailing near St Francois also had the 50 kts gusts – out of 40 starters only about 5 finished the course! More wind and rain to come in the next 48 hrs - this is the system we have been watching from earlier postings. Looks like Martinique will get the worst of it. Glad to be on our safe dock today and keeping our heads down.

With Kind Regards

That's for sure. Over the last hour or so the winds have definitely increased - nothing alarming but a far cry from the almost dead calm earlier today. It's still overcast but the rain isn't too heavy and there's no thunder. Due to the fact that there hasn't been any sunshine today, it's kinda chilly too! :cold:

Heh, been trying to update all day on my iPod, but kept getting distracted. I ended up having to make a trip into town after all, and of course just when I thought I'd get away with it we then had our first downpour and thunderstorm. Nature's dirty little joke! Town was miserable. I was struggling to keep my umbrella once the winds picked up. Glad to be back home in the dry! The rain has eased up some, but it still looks like night out there.

Here on the tip of Dominica facing Martinique the rain started more consequently as by now. We had some torrential rains during the early morning and some short torrential rain periods during the day.

During the day the wind started to emerge. Nothing serious though. The Atlantic is getting more wild but the Caribbean Sea is still easy going. As said I'm on the edge and from my balcony I can see both the Atlantic and Caribbean.

We closed our restaurant for the night and removed all bottles and more to a safer place. We are 2.5 meters from the Caribbean sea.

It's a strange weather pattern. Rain, Sunshine, Gray changing all the time. When I started writing this there was lot's of rain and now again there is nothing but gray. Probably the sun will shine again in 15 minutes.

No thunder, lightning or gusty winds as by now. Stay safe guys and girls. This looks like a wave that can't find out if it want to behave good or bad. It's a fighter but it has no chance with all the shear around.
