Re: SE TX/SW LA weather: Summer Pattern-HOT!!!
Saw that on radar too..Looks like it is going to miss us a little to our South and seems to be "sucking" all the energy into it from the north. Hope it is not too severe either..We need the rain minus the severe weather.

I just hope the rainfall amount prediction is somewhere close to what we actually see area wide. Last week we had a decent chance all week and I doubt we even received 1/4".

vbhoutex wrote:Well, we are under a tornado warning for the cell that just passed us. It is heading wnw and is building nnw as it moves and has gone severe on radar. It didn't get anywhere near severe here, but a few miles to our nnw radar shows it as severe. Unfortunately, if it continues to build, it is heading towards sraintx's house and both of my children's homes. Hopefully it is not producing any tornados(radar doesn't indicate any, but it definitely looked like it was at severe on the radar to our nnw). We probably got less than 1/2" here, but every little bit helps. The water bill is loving it!
Severe dropped but still slowly moving west and weakening.

No rain, but awesone towers reflecting the setting sun, and some thunder pretty close.

Definitely went severe for a while in Jersey Village with golf ball sized hail reported.
We managed 100ºf before the storm moved in here at the house. We ended up with 0.40" of rain.

Received about an inch of rain yesterday while having an afternoon by the pool with friends and a Sunday evening Pot Roast meal. Frequent CG chased us away from the pool and then some very gusty winds and very small hail. My yard is greatful.

We're still at 60% over here and they bumped tomorrow up to 70%. It doesn't look like your percentage should be that much lower, but what do I know?

It looks like guidance may be coming in even a little wetter.
AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE LAKE CHARLES LA
1154 AM CDT MON JUL 27 2009
.UPDATE...HIGH PRECIPITABLE WATER VALUES AND FAIRLY SLOW STORM
MOTION WILL BRING THE POTENTIAL FOR SOME LOCALLY HEAVY RAINFALL
TODAY. HAVE ADDED THAT VERBIAGE TO FORECAST. ADDITIONALLY WENT
AHEAD AND THREW IN FREQUENT LIGHTNING WHICH HAS BEEN THE CASE WITH
EVEN MODEST STORMS THE LAST FEW DAYS. INTENDED TO DO THIS AT
EARLIER UPDATE BUT GOT SIDE-TRACKED.

Tall cu just South of the Galleria appear to be beginning to drop some rain, by looking out the window. Tall, but not the awesome towers I saw yesterday when I went outside and looked West after the Jersey Village tornado warning.

If we"re at 20% today I just got it, so I guess everyone else is done.
We just had a brief downpour, so the precipatable is right, but this time we had no lightning.

Still do not see too much firing up heading this way. Most appears to be going from SW to NE. I hope something will develop far enough West to pass through our area today.

Rain has commenced at the Galleria. Moderate rain, not too heavy, I may have heard a single distant thunder rumble a few minutes ago, but I'm not certain.

Inadvertant weather modification strikes again.
Close/loud lightning and thunder 30 seconds after post. Rain is moderatively heavy, not blinding or anything.

Glad to see there is quite a bit out there...Still a little too far South for us, but it is ever so slowly trying to make its way this direction. Does not seem like the trough that was talked about has made it as far South as thought originally.
