Nope, no damage to Annie's house. Their dog, Motley, didn't like it though.

Got some more rain yesterday. I think some of the metro got some rain this weekend, but I was gone. I have a hunch I did not get any. The big front has come through. Really doesnt feel all that different this morning, perhaps a little cooler than normal AM temps. The big story is the high of 69 forecast...about 20 degrees below normal. Thursday may even be cooler with a reinforcing shot of cold air. I guess I shouldnt be too surprised by all this, as we had 2 days in a row with highs in the 50s on August 15th,16th last year. That was some nutty weather. I also wouldnt be too quick to call an end to summer. Last year we still had a few more 90 degree days even after the big cool down in mid august. Having said that, I feel the odds a prolonged hot (mid and upper 90s) spell are pretty nil at this point.

Through 7 days east of the front range looks to be under the influence of a midwestern trough, while west of the divide looks to be under the ridge of high pressure with pretty warm temps there. We will return to 80s next week, and the the first week of August, GFS projects the ridge smack dab over the state. That could certainly give us some of our warmest temps of the year. Hopefully it just doesnt get too hot.

July is going to average nearly 2 degrees below normal - and that's the month to be below normal. No real oppressive heat to be had. What a contrast to the last two summers.

And to comment about JBs forecast for the winter. I don't have a link but I remember seeing his graphic for this winter. It had Colorado under hotter and drier conditions. However, the storm track showed on the map is a setup for classic Denver upslope snow. I'm talking a low track right over the 4 corners region. That would be interesting.

Came out of work today at 4:30 and the temp was 55! Cold north wind blowing at the time. I was actually COLD, like my hands were like ice when I got to my car. Its July 29th. Just for comparison...the highs for the previous July 29th's

2008- 94
2007-84
2006-cant find it but I know it was 105 on July 20th
2005-99
2004-84

Actually in the ooks the high was 71...but I went outside a few times today and t never "felt" a degree over 65, and in fact the temp at lunch was 65. I am not sure if 71 was a record low max, but it likely wast. Tonights low 48...can you say September?

JB's forecast for the winter is silly. I don't really see how we could be much drier or warmer than last winter. His graphic says one thing, but like you mentioned above, the forecast track says big upslope snow. I hope we get that! I don't want to sit through another winter like last.
