Yes... there have been several of these type bombings in the last 6 months in this area... just they generally don't kill very many people so they can be overlooked by the media. Russia has a serious problem on its hands...

What kind of insane kook does it take to bomb a HOSPITAL??? :o
There were wild rumors flying here in Douglasville just after 9/11/01 that our local hospital was an Al Quada terrorist target because of it's design -- and I remember thinking at the time who would be sadistic enough to bomb a hospital full of helpless patients? Well, I guess we now know....there is at least one in Russia (and probably a lot more :o :o :o
This world just seems to become scarier every single day :o

I assume another reason why we haven't hear of news reports from Chechnya is because "Operation Iraqi Freedom" was going on within the last six months.
The media was obviously covering the war, rather than the developments out of that region.

Very true Tom... our media has to prioritize what affects us and Operation Iraqi Freedom does in a more realistic way than these bombings... FNC and MSNBC covered these bombings on a limited basis, but didn't see anything on CNN about them.

I had no idea that there had been either. I think that Tom is right about the reason why we haven't heard much about Chechnya. That's terrible that they would do that to people that are too helpless to help themselves!

Don't forget, Perry -- some hospitals are also med schools and research facilities, which makes them possible targets for terrorists who want to get their hands on certain agents and biotoxins.

"When the laboratory opens this summer, the deadliest of viruses will live within its 10-inch-thick concrete shell, to be studied by world-class experts on infectious diseases.
UT Medical Branch had already cultivated a widely renowned biodefense program. To its credit, it will be the first university in the United States with its own BSL-4.
"BSL-4" stands for "Bio-Safety Level 4." Disease laboratories have varied levels of containment, with Level 4 as the highest. A laboratory can maintain only the pathogens that fit within its containment level. For instance, a BSL-3 laboratory holds Anthrax. A BSL-4 holds worse."

Something you guys overlooked...Chechens are Islamic, and have adopted terror tactics rather than open military action (in which they lost most of their "regular" soldiers and much of their claimed territory).
BTW, "Grozny" in Russian means "terrible" or "awesome"...the same title that Czar Ivan IV chose for himself. It is particularly appropriate today in that area.
