[quote="mpic"]Very interesting thread! My first impression about the fruits here in S Texas was that we must not be getting a hit, but if plentiful pecans are a good indicator, however, I may have changed my mind.
I live in an area that seems to be missed by 99% of all rainfall here. As a result, my yard and patio are covered with pecans that have fallen and are, due to lack of rain, smaller than the size of the end joint of my little finger. Had I had "normal" rain this spring/summer, though, the tree would be heavy laden. As it is, I will be feeding squirrels all winter this year. It will be interesting to see what happens. I really didn't pay any attention last year before Ike.
I will say, though, that my neighbors and I noticed the lack of birds and squirrels last year a full week before we took a direct hit from Ike. Becuase of that fact and the info on this forum, I left 5 days before it hit even though the TV mets were saying it wouldn't come here.
Tkanks my friend, i appreciate your excellent post
