My local MET as well as 3 NOLA TV METs said that what was left of Ana was forecasted to track into the GOM but it would just be a rain event, not much wind but a lot of rain and that the system would not regenerate into a tropical system, it would just be a rain maker. I'm getting some good rain this morning which I guess is being caused by the remnants of what was TS Claudette.

Hopefully the NO meterologist is not Bob Breck and his famous model. I always wondered what happend to him after that fiasco with Katrina.

It wasn't Bob Breck. I can't get him on my cable system. One NOLA MET was on WDSU TV6, another NOLA MET was on WGNO TV26, and the other NOLA MET was on WWL TV4. My local MET was on WLOX TV13.

Yes in the tropics you can't write anything off but I'm still
not sold on this regenerating. We shall see.

That is the blob I will be watching myself.The ULL is disenergrating and the flareup in that area is not totally due to the ULL.I thought I still saw a remnant spin in that area about 6pm yesterday though very weak and at what level??I do not know.The overall speed of everything in that area has slowed dramatically in the last 24hrs also.Just like the hound on the porch,one eye closed and the other is watching.

Even if Ana regenerates at some point ... my fellow Texans and I should not get too excited about our rain chances. That's a major-league trough progged by both the Euro and GFS to develop later this week would likely pull up any moisture/system in place. You Eastern Gulf folks will get wet once again while the catastrophic drought continues in south central Texas.

I think the weak tiny remnant center is that burst headed towards Guantanamo and right up over Cuba. Another wrecking hit awaits it today.

Its just an area of plusing convection right now, still maybe one to watch in the Gulf as conditions shouldn't be that bad, but I'd have thought it would be a new system rather then Ana given the old circularion has totally gone now.

can someone help me here, how can i tell what is underneath those clouds looking at that loop. I m not saying there is anything underneath it meaning a closed low level circ or mid level or upper level but how can i tell looking at that loop?

I was simply looking for any type of inflow south of the blob, and saw nothing. Amateur observation. When Claudette was developing you could clearly see low level clouds streaming toward the convection.

But again, no science here.
