That humidity is the killer! Since it's been running in the mid 80's here at my house during the night, I'll welcome 70's any day! I keep the thermostat set on 80, so it will be great to open the windows overnight.

My heat index for that overnight "cold" front is 84, so scrap opening the windows. :(

It was almost black as night here was neat to watch the dark clouds head this way. Luck was with me as i beat the rain when leaving the grocery store. More "reds" headed this way from the southwest.

I heard a lot of thunder earlier, but the storms missed me. I was out running around this morning and again this afternoon and was in several areas that had received rain, but I never saw any. Nor did my house. :(

You're right. Image I just skimmed over it and should have read it more carefully. It's so hot outside... I can't wait until we're talking cold weather again! I'll miss the pool, but eh... I've been able to swim a lot this summer.

Geez, how did I know? I made a comment to my wife about the fact you never seem to get any rain where you are in The Woodlands when they issued the warning.

Boy did we get some rain. I have no official rain guage but the sand traps were like lakes, so I would say we received at least an inch if not close to 2 ". Strong winds, quarter size hail and a bonus lightning strike. Lightning struck a tall pine tree 30' from the back of our house. Never hear a boom that loud in my entire life. We were on the porch watching the rain and FLASH BOOM all at one time..I needed to change my shorts after that :). Seriously though I am just now getting full hearing back. Also, our power was out for 3 hours (good thing I had our generator installed afer Ike). Once I figure out how to add photo's I will post one of the tree behind our house. Needless to say I am still a little shaken.

I'm glad that you folks finally got some rain at least. Flyinman, that is crazy. :double: Morning e-mail from Jeff offers more "hope" today. Maybe it will be our turn, David. :ggreen:

Chance for strong thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.

A weak frontal boundary from Dallas to N LA will drift southward today. Additionally, tropical moisture is surging northward out of the Gulf of Mexico with scattered activity already developing along the coast and offshore. Expect to see this activity move inland later this morning through much of the afternoon hours. At the same time current activity near Dallas will likely weaken and an outflow boundary move southward with new storms developing as this boundary enters our northern counties.

Potential is at hand for late day outflow boundary/seabreeze collision over the central parts of the area before storms continue on SSW in mean N to NNE steering flow. Threat does exist for severe wind microburst and a few hailers this afternoon along with excessive rainfall in small pockets due to slow storm motions.

Weaker than progged front will limp toward the coast on Saturday…with drier air filtering into the region. High temps. will remain in the upper 90’s however a lower dewpoint air mass will result in slightly less humid feel.

Now if I can get more than .25" I will be happy. I missed most of the rains over the past 3 weeks. Very light totals anywhere from .03" to .23" over the past 3 weeks. Today must be my turn for a 1-2" rain.

Hopefully this works..Still do not have great hearing in my right ear:

We also had a big oak tree fall in the parking lot of one of our properties. Thankfully in between the buildings. I would like more rain today but please stay away severe weather.

Yep, sure smelled good afterwards :D . Good thing is no squirrels were in the tree, they live in the Oak next door. I hope today is a little calmer..We did have a nice rainbow afterwards, but it was not bright enough for photos. Man I sure love weather!

Thanks, srainhoutx. I'm hearing a lot of really loud thunder, with some of those loud booms that startle you, but so far, just a little light rain here for a few minutes. People are getting pounded somewhere near here.
