Hi everyone,

I quit my job today. :( It was something that needed to be done though; seeing as how I was about to be fired anyway due to poor on-the-job performance.

The weather here is a bit less humid today. ;) Yay!

Yesterday I joined a workout club. :D My doc said I need to lose 36 pounds, so I figured the club would help; especially since it is in the same plaza as my doc's office. ;) I will keep you updated on my progress.

(btw - if I get to 200 lbs, I can go off of 4 of my medications! :D :D :D :) :) :) )

Have a great Friday everyone. Joshua

Good Saturday morning everyone! :D

Joshua... here's hoping you lose that weight. Not an easy task at all. I know... I have lost about 45 pounds in the last year or so (dr. ordered as well). Good luck... and if you need some support, give me a holler. :)

Mow, mow, mow! That is all I seem to be getting done this week. I haven't put any fertilizer on the lawn either. :o I guess it just likes to do this to keep me busy.

Everyone have a great weekend. ;)

Sun'l come up in just a few minutes. Hoping for a boomer or two late today, but chances seem to be diminishing. A half inch of rain here this week was welcome.

Raine..Dakota's a blessing, and I never get tired of seeing kids dream and overcome obstacles. We adults can learn so much from them. His path will be challenging, but his mom's support is as steadfast as the earth beneath him...and that is a blessing too.

Still workin' on that vine painting in the kitchen this weekend. Maybe finish it...maybe not. About 8 hrs work to go I suspect, and both my eyes and back start barkin' from leaning over the stove to do the painting.

Josh....work on that weight issue now. Much easier to shed the pounds at your age than it is later on. Good luck with it.

Enjoy the weekend folks...

Steve

Good Morning!

The air is heavy with moisture, all I had to do to get a drink of water was to take a knife and *cut a drink* out of the air "LOL!" WOW........take about a STORM last night.......lighting and thunder in the same instance, no time to count between the strokes, I received another .67" last night in about 15 minutes or less, kinda like a *cow peeing on a flat rock!*

I've been sending some of you photos of my *pet hummingbirds*......I've made a photo album of them sitting on my finger.......go to Garden of Weedin and click on Hummingbird Wars.......then click on the link!

Josh.....got ya covered my friend in prayer....sorry to hear about the job situation, another one will come along very soon! As Azskyman said, get that weight off now cuz like he said also, the older ya get the harder it is to shed the #'s!

Garrett.......I know the feeling with the mowing, we did the lawn day before yesterday...Well...............it's time again TODAY "Sheeesh!" you'd think I'd learn!

Make it a great Saturday would ya's?

Good Morning!

How's everyone this fine morning? Yes......it IS a "FINE" morning too...my inlaws are LEAVING in about 4 hours WOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO! Sorry......couldn't resist that one, I know Tom.......I should be ashamed of myself talking about family like that but the sad part is.......Michelle feels the same way "LOL!" Just kidding, I love my inlaws to death but.....inlaws are like fish, after 2 days, they stink! Sorry!

ANWAYS, on a lighter, brighter note......not much in the way of rain yesterday, lotsa flashes, power flickering, thunder rolling then PHFFFT..fizzle, a drop here, a drip there....the monsoons are taking a break until Tuesday the NWS says.

OH.....go to the contest forum and place your bets, it's that time again for my annual first snowfall contest, I know it's early but hey......

Off for another cuppa Joe and read the paper, make it a GREAT day would ya?

Howdy! Long time no post here at the front porch!

Raine - I am so sorry to hear about what happened while you were babystting your friend's dogs. I certainly hope that they do not blame you for the Pomeranian's passing.

I didn't see who was going to Cancun either - but I had a blast back in March in the Riviera Maya, about an hour south of Cancun. On August 14th I'll be flying out to see my Dad in Colorado via Phoenix! I'll be in our SW buddie's neighborhood for about 2 hours and then flying to Denver.

Steve - where will you be going on vacation?

Dennis - snowfall predictions huh? You know what, I just did some Christmas shopping over the net last night through LL Bean and the National Wildlife Federation, so I guess it's not THAT far fetched! I love buying my Christmas cards through the NWF!

Another HUMID day today - the dewpoints have been in the 70's! YUCK! Fortunately, we've been also receiving some t'storms each afternoon, but it really doesn't help too much with the temps afterwards.

Everyone have a great Sunday! :D

Good Morning All!

I am up and trying to get motivated to go grocery shopping! I have put it off so long that I have no choice! School starts here tomorrow and I amjust having a hard time believing that it is that time of year AGAIN! Time is moving way too fast for me, I feel like I am missing something :?

Raine, Dakota is taking a huge step in deciding to play soccer and it is because of your encouraging words and your faith that he has the courage to take that step. When we talk to our kids, it is our first instinct to say "well that was a waste of good air" but I have come to know that every word of encouragement that we give them, they DO hear it and it does stick. Sometimes they just don't want to let us know we have done something good! :D

Dennis, freedom is coming soon! Bless your heart, I know how you feel though, no matter how much I care about someone, it is very hard to be around a negative vibe. I have a hard time with that too, so I feel your pain.

Bron, omilordy, I feel for you my friend! I never experienced morning sickness with either of my pregnancies but have friends who did. This too shall pass..................

Josh, follow the doctors orders and do what needs to be done. Like it was said in another thread, it will be much easier to lose those lbs now than if you wait!!

Speaking of, my mom and I joined "Curves" on July 2nd because we both want to get back in shape and I went in for my measuring yesterday and I have lost 11 INCHES!! It really floored me to find that out! I haven't lost any weight but am building muscle. My body fat dropped a full percent!! I have only been going 3 times a week so now I am going to start going 4 times to increase the results!! I feel great and I really look forward to seeing more results soon!

Steve, please take a pic of your painting project, I would love to see it!!

Take care everyone, I am going to go do battle at Wal-Mart!! Wish me luck!

I lost about 2 lbs last week :D :) . Yay! Thanks everyone for your prayers on that ;) .

Sandi - CONGRATS on your exercise progress! WooooHoooo! :D :) ;) I should follow your lead! ;)

Cooler weather here. Good in that it feels better but bad in that winter is getting closer and I hate cold weather  .

Found out last night that I had $17.38 left in my bank account. Spent $15.09 of it to get food since I had next to nothing here. :( Don't ya hate it when that happens?

Have a great Sunday, I'll be in and out due to house cleaning. Joshua

Just had a passing heavy rain shower here in which I picked up .40" of rain. However, just down the road picking up tacos, that same rain shower absolutely dumped and pretty much flooded down the road and temporarily I lost my power steering with the water.

Afternoon everyone! :D

Congrats Sandi and Joshua on your loss of inches and of pounds. Joshua... you mentioned working out at the gym. I don't know what you will be doing, but chances are you may gain muscle, which tends to curb losing calories.

Snow? :o It will be here before I am ready for it. I like to see it, but I hate to drive 45 minutes to college in it. :(

I have to go pick up my oldest sister from her dad's (about an hour and a half away) soon so I guess I should cut this short.

TTYL,

I haven't weighed in for about five weeks, but my fingers feel smaller! That is normally a good sign of some weight loss. Drinking more water, too. Exercise is limited to a swim in the pool a few times a week in the summer. But great news to those of you really pushing yourselves. Kathy belonged to Curves nearby too, but when she got her "frozen shoulder" last fall, she had to stop and has not restarted.

Snowfall...well, I guess I can check out that page Dennis. For the most part we won't even see highs below 90 til after Halloween, so not much thinking about snow just yet here in the Valley.

Did work on the kitchen artwork this weekend. Not finished yet. Got 13 hours into it and only have accomplished 6' of grapevine!!! At 2 hrs per foot, I have another 6 to go. I'll take some stills of the other art in the house, too, one of these days and make them available for anyone who wants to check them out.

BTW, thanks for sharing the insight into each of you, Stephanie and Streetsoldier, via the latest newsletter. Didn't realize you lived for a while on "Lawn Guyland" Stephanie. Ever remember a weather guy named Norm Dvoskin on Channel 12 there? He and I put together a weather joke book about 10-15 years ago!! Wish I had a copy!

Enjoy your week, and be safe. Some tragic accidents around Phoenix this weekend have changed some lives forever. Never forget to appreciate each and every sunrise.

Good Morning!

Haven't stopped by the porch for a few days, with company, the business AND of course golf.......hasn't left time for much of anything as of late.

The monsoons have taken a break dang it! I finished the month of July up with 5.49", that's 1.31" short of normal..........let's hope we can turn that around in August! I'm back to watering the lawn, the trees and veggies, I've spent more on water this year than I have the last 4 years combined......ah well, it's ONLY MONEY, right???

Gotta git....another busy day on tap, gotta git all our work done before Thursday, man.......I dread this upcoming weekend, I *know* we desperatly need the tourist dollars but sheeeesh! This weekend is the 29th annual Sheriffs Posse BBQ, 15th annual Bluegrass Festival and a HUGE, HUGE antique show *sigh*........

I see this Gulfbreezer - are we falling behind on things. Too many other quick topics overcoming the front porch I guess.

We are in the DOG DAYS OF AUGUST here in Houston. High temp forecast to be 101!! That's hot. I don't even go outside at all during the day - I bring my lunch and stay indoors. No sense in getting overheated.

I been away for awhile - watching the tropics - my passion - but they have been slow - so trying to catchup on family life.

Good to see everyone! Its almost the weekend!

Wow looks like everyone is abandoning the front porch - what if I hooked a misting fan with a pitcher of ice cold tea with some snickerdoodle cookies! Do you think more would stop by and visit it again.

Hope everyone is doing good. August is flying by - guess what - I already started my Christmas shopping - I'm going to be ahead of the game this year!

Have a great weekend everyone - I know I am. Went to the public library during lunch and got 5 novels. With our heatwave - I'm staying indoors and reading. Can't wait.

Laters.

Hello gang!

I don't stop by as often as I should myself but with the summertime upon us, there's alot of people taking vacations, etc.

Ticka, I started my christmas shopping already myself. I ordered for my father and his girlfriend two trail loungers - seats that they can use for when they are hiking - they actually roll up so they are easy to carry and inflate abit when they are opened. I got those from LL Bean. I figured that since I did have an idea for them, I might as well take advantage of it right then and there before I forgot it and the money really gets tight around the holidays.

With all of the rain we are getting, everything is so lush and my lawn looks like a jungle! :o It's definately a far cry from last year. I'm really enjoying the "Garden of Weedin'" forum since I'm getting alot of ideas from everyone and I enjoy seeing everyone's pictures of their "masterpieces".

I won't be home tonight but I know I'll be visiting the boards tomorrow. I hope everyone has a great weekend! :D

Wow It is very quiet here on the porch...

Goodness Ticka.. that heat is just plain NASTY! We have been in the mid 90's and that is just about as uncomfortable as I want to be thanks! The rain here has been amazing, we truly have had heavy rainfall on a daily basis for the last 2 weeks... we are like 3 inches over our normal for this month, lets just pray we dont get any visits from any TC's this year, cause I may just be floating down the Intracoastal waterway :o

Well guys I am starting to get FAT!! I cant fit in my normal clothes, and people are noticing my bump already... when I tell them I am only 9 weeks the comment seems to be "how many are in there"! Gosh I just pray there is only one! :o The good news is my morning sickness seems to be dissapearing so I am feeling like a normal person again...

Take care my friends, and abundant blessings to you all :)
