Baltimore Orioles rain delay turns scary for a moment

#1 Postby Stormsfury » Sun Aug 03, 2003 4:07 pm

During a Boston/Baltimore game earlier today ... saw video of moments before the rain delay was called ... in a downpour, just seconds after Nomar Garciaparra caught a lazy pop. A HUGE flash of lightning was caught on video and an earth-shattering clap of thunder rained over the stadium sending players and spectators alike scurrying for cover ...

Interesting, it must not of been raining hard enough to prompt a rain delay and for some reason thought it was safe enough to continue playing white the thunder was occurring.

It actually started really coming down in the middle of a play and right after Nomar Garciaparra caught the pop-up, just seconds later ... WHAM!

Everyone, I mean everyone scurried ... Watch Sportscenter or any sports show tonight and they'll likely show the video tonight ...

As far as I can tell, everyone was ok and not hurt ... and actually provided the people at SportsCenter and some of the players running off the field a good laugh afterwards ...

I taped it off of Baseball Tonight, and should replay again on Sportscenter after the SF/CIN game is over ...

Yeah, I saw it. That's funny. The 2nd baseman ducked, like that would help? "He didn't wait for the umpire to call a rain delay!" (Seeing player run to dugout)
