Powell won't serve second term?
The rumor floating about is that if Bush is re-elected Colin Powell won't serve a second term. Comments?:):)

Oh yes, this is just a rumor but a power struggle has been ongoing between Powell and Rumsfeld. Its my opinion that Powell is just playing the good solider and going along with some policies he doesn't agree with. I wouldn't be surprised though if Bush does win that Colin Powell decides not to serve:):0. Just my opinion of course:)

I guess that anything is possible. I know that there have been power struggles between him & Rumsfeld inparticular, so I guess it wouldn't really surprise me.

According to MSNBC this morning, Powell promised his wife he would only serve one term within the Bush presidency. I guess this has been common knowledge for a while now.
This would probably open the door for Condoleeza Rice to become Sec. of State, a stepping stone to who believe will be the first black and female president of the United States.

I didn't know that, but there have been alot of people that have served various Presidents that have done this too.

Well I was close right?

Ameriwx.... I get the feeling you do not like Bush very much.

So true about any President being an easy target. He faces these problems however, because of Clinton's inability to handle foreign policy. And as far as being a weak President, that is just laughable. Bush is far from weak. IMO, he does not take any bologney.

We need to see how this all plays out, but I think Colin Powell is a much needed necessity to the Bush Administration and the Republican party...representing moderation. It's easy to see the conflict between Rumsfeld and Powell...they are dramatically different personalities.
Perhaps he's clearing the way for a run for the Presidency! Stranger things have happened on Capitol Hill. I would have voted for him last time around.
