The Indian monsoon didn't come until late August for a good part of India. Overall it was down 25%. Too late for the summer crops.
I suppose this is linked to the inactive hurricane season in the Atlantic?

How inactive has the season in that area been? I don't know what is normal for that area, but I would guess it has been below normal too. We already know that there is at least some correlation between all of the basins, so I would assume that there is something going on in that area that would diminish Westward moving systems that eventually end up over Africa and then the Atlantic basin.

Globally, the monsoons were nothing to write home about. Especially the Indian and North American ones. In WPAC, the monsoon picked up in August as it did in parts of EPAC.

It makes sense to me that the fast spread of Arctic ice and cool winter along with this monsoon failure is all connected to the unfavorability in the Atlantic for hurricane formation. But equilibrium requires that some seasons not be as strong as others.
